Illusion made a few like that. Sexy Beach, Koikatsu, Honey Select, and Playhome are all technically like that, though all are best heavily modded. There's Wild, Wicked, Sin, something like that Island that's a kind of survival craft where you can only play a female character and you get raped by orcs or something (I never played it). Honestly, check Steam's Nextfest any time it comes up, there were like 80+ porn games on there during one and some of them seemed like they were trying to make real games and not just AVNs, though there were definitely some pixelhunt AVNs on there.

I'll check em out. I was just seeing people's opinion on this sort of game. I'll check a few of the ones you mentioned. I tend to play more open world RPG games so it would be interesting to see how it works.

Become mainstream? I highly doubt it. Society isn't trending in that direction. The closest you'll probably get are games like the First Descendent or that one with the girl named Eve where you can get them to dance around in tiny outfits. Would I play a full 3d open world RPG with porn elements? Yes, but there really aren't any decent contenders out there that I've come across.

Short answer, yes. Long answer,

I don't think we will see many real porn games in the mainstream anytime soon. In the short term I think that AI will make it more easy for non-programing-skilled people to mod mainstream games. You will still need a bit of know-how and basic programing knowledge, but I believe soon anyone can easily mod mainstream games to be more naughty.

My honest take on porn games actually becoming real mainstream is that it will become more and more "accepted", and more and more "soft-sfw" games will start popping up at first. Steam taking in porn games in their store was a great start. And now when it seems that the gaming industry is starting to heal from the whole HR-Karen-DEI-Concord-ugly-characthers bullshit (sorry, I just don't like it sooo f-ing much), we should start seeing a progression in that more porn/nsfw-elements starts being a bigger part in games again. We have already started seeing this in some recent games implementing boob-sliders, more jiggle physics, schlong-sliders, and much more.

Game developers have lost a LOT of money in the past recent years that they now have to earn back, and sex sells baby

I've come across so many RPG open world type porn games. I didn't expect to see that level of game. Wanted to get some opinions. Does anyone see this genre of game reaching the mainstream?

dont really see that happening. usually IF game devs start any type of open world game it slowly becomes a closed world game after including "fun" minigames and mindless errand runs OR the devs lose the plot and concentrate their efforts on npcs that do not matter (for multiple years) instead of evolving the story. the only game i've played that i can get enjoyment out of in that way is masters of raana.

mainstream, hardly, it's just way more effort to implement than say a Renpy game. there's a couple fun ones, especially the furry games (Wild Life, Carnal Instinct, that one kobold farming game, bunch of others..) but like others said, they're not always worth your time. every so often there's an "open world" game on a much smaller scale, like May's Summer Adventure recently, and i think those are the perfect middle niche

Man, games like this are pretty rare these days since the smallest size is usually around 15GB due to the rendering, but I think it could create some great content. Nowadays, there are plenty of games that are about 8GB, but you finish them in 3 hours because most of the size is just dialogue. But the game at least need to have a good cap to run in every pc avaliable of medium cost, if not u won't get much content.

I think it get better on the size, quality and quantity if devs take a more stylized approach to the games instead of the photorealistic. I'm pretty sure there are great examples of this.

I think Lilith's Throne is considered open world, there is a big world and tons of people to do and things to see but its not a 3d game so some might be dissuaded. Personally its my fav porn game of all time

I doubt 3d porn games will become more mainstream where they'd be classed as "AAA" but it's more likely that mainstream games will push boundaries a bit more and test social norms.
Having said that, I never thought that mainstream TV shows would show full frontal nudity, but that's become more common, certainly in the fantasy genre. Hell, you even had a bj being shown in the last season of the Game of Thrones spin off, I never thought that would happen!
I suspect they will remain niche for the foreseeable future.
Well, this is unless more independents get supporters, take Wildlife as an example, that's gone all out on certain kinks. I've no idea if it's any good though
