It's insane how people think they can 'help' by pushing unverified AI 'code'.

If you don't put any effort into it, why don't you think the maintainers themselves aren't doing it?

Similarly, I like helping people with coding, but it does feel frustrating if you get the feeling the other person invests zero effort into it and just hands you code to fix freshly from AI without having made an attempt to understand it.

I'm much more patient fixing human slop than AI slop, because with human slop at least you're sure the other person has put in effort themselves.

This whole idea of someone claiming ownership over something generated by AI has made some things a nightmare. This attachment to AI to do everything instead of treating it as just support will only make things worse.
To me, vibe coding should be banned, but it’s hard to ban something that depends on other people’s common sense :/

There's some matter of degrees, my IDE automatically tries to fill in AI code completion but it's still my code. I've also used it to generate repetitive code like lookup tables. But it's dumb to generate code and use it when you don't know what it does. We already had that problem with stack overflow answers getting copied with no checking, AI will definitely make it worse.

Well hey today M$ fired the heads of xbox replace them with AI first mindset people and again are saying AI code must be used on everything so maybe we will get AI coffee makers next that needs AI coded software updates no human to start writing the code at all the ai does everything horrifically but hey we can hire the human after.....

AI writes the code, passes it off to another AI for code review, passes it to another for QA testing, passes it to another to deploy to the servers. Future is looking so bleak we'll need augmented reality glasses. Controlled by AI of course.
