I am making this thread to ask the community to help fund a new LewdCorner server upgrade. ----> Donate Link (goal is automatic meaning it is transparent)

The goal is simple: pay about $30/month less than what we pay now, while moving to hardware that’s at least 2–3× stronger overall in real-world usage. That means more stability, faster page loads, better performance during peak traffic, and way more headroom so we’re not always riding the edge when something spikes.

Below is a clean comparison of what we have now vs what we’re wanting to upgrading to:

edit: goal reached because of @Cyrix
new server purchased, (waiting for apollo to wake up before the merge, expect downtime.)

Option A (Current) vs Option B (Upgrade)

CategoryOption A (Current)Option B (Upgrade)What it means (plain English)
Server / PlatformCurrent platformNewer platformOption B is a newer, stronger overall server build.
CPUIntel Xeon E5-2650L v4 (14c/28t) 1.7–2.5GHzIntel Xeon Gold 6152 (22c/44t) 2.1–3.7GHzMore cores + higher clocks = better performance under load and more users online at once without lag.
CPU strengthBaseline~1.6× to 2.2× more compute (typical server workloads)More headroom before slowdowns when traffic spikes or background tasks run.
RAM64GB (4×16GB DDR4-2400 ECC)128GB (4×32GB DDR4-2666 ECC)Exactly 2× the RAM = more caching, fewer “memory pressure” slowdowns, and smoother overall performance.
Storage1× 3.84TB SATA SSD (Intel/S4510)2× 3.84TB NVMe (Toshiba) (7.68TB)NVMe is massively faster for databases + lots of files, and 2 drives also ees redundancy options.
Storage “feel”Fast SSDServer-grade fast (NVMe)For DB + file-heavy workloads, NVMe can feel 3×–10×+ snappier than SATA (depending on what’s happening).
Drive failure riskHigher (single drive)Lower (dual drive → RAID1 option)Option B can be configured to survive a drive failure without taking LC down. (like it just did)

Quick why we want Option B
  • More CPU power: 14c/28t → 22c/44t plus higher clocks (more users, less lag).
  • 2× RAM: 64GB → 128GB (bigger cache, smoother performance, fewer slowdowns).
  • Dual NVMe drives: way faster DB/files + redundancy option (RAID1).
  • Guaranteed 300M unmetered: consistent throughput for the community at peak times.
  • Cheaper monthly: about ~$30 less than the current server while being significantly stronger.

The RAM is reversed I think

This is so strange to me as both of these are horrible out of date at least in terms of the cpu. Intel Xeon E5-2650L v4 came out in 2016 and Intel Xeon Gold 6152 came out in 2017 and both are several years beyond their last End of Servicing Updates Date. Both are rocking DDR4 which I suppose in the RAM crisis isn't the worst though DDR 6 is about to hit. I mean both CPUs are sub $300 for old new stock and sub $40 for renewed. Which brings the question of if the host is really charging an arm and leg for this or in what situation and for what price point would you accept this? Is selfhosting really out the relm of possiblity? The only thing of real cost in that setup would be the 2× 3.84TB NVMe (Toshiba) which are going for around $1000 at this point, but other than that you could do a lot better for cheaper.

cant self host sadly bad service, and i had a high end server for about $2000-3000 a month, but that was all types of stressful because i had to get donations daily to keep us afloat, these two servers are roughly around 200-400 atm. i wont give you an actual price to try to hide the host i use the best i can.

ill also put that, the reason the price is up their is because i host on a dmca ignored/bulletproof server, + basically unlimited bandwidth.

It sometimes easy to forget that sites like this one are under constant attack and have to be extra selective about their hosts. It's a sad world we live in.

I know how hard it is to run, maintain, and support a site like this. Every lil dollar counts and you are trying to find anything you can to keep it going. Now it looks like we have full redundancy across the board and stability will be the norm.

Happy to help this community.

I can't donate money but i'll make my best to share some content for the community.

This community is amazing!

I'll give my honest opinion.
Why don't they just abandon those regular games and stick only with the games+? I believe that more than 90% of people come here just for them. For regular games, there's F59 (if you're banned, just use a VPN), there are many more games, faster updates... And so many other sites that I don't even need to mention.
Now that ATF is close to closing, they could grab its content and users.
I know the site needs donations, but as I've said many times, I only come here for the games+, and sometimes I go two or three months without downloading anything, because I download everything else from other places. It's hard to feel motivated to donate like that (to be honest).
Now, if the site were exclusively focused on games+ and brought all the content from ATF, whether images, videos, developers, image creators....
I might even feel motivated to make sporadic donations in the future.
Unfortunately, it's very stressful coming here today. Besides having nothing to download, I have to open forced topics, the site is frequently offline, game cover images don't load, and the layout changes frequently, just when we get used to one.
I know I always complain, but I miss how it was in the beginning, practical and functional. Today, unfortunately, it's either buggy or offline most of the time.

well while the + content is fine - because not hosted on the server directly, the rules about plus content are a whole different world when it comes to posting things right here on the forums. That stuff is especially nowadays seen very critical to say the least. So yeah they could, but i doubt this will flourish. There is not much new content coming in from that side. And most of it is, let's be honest sub par compared to stuff that was out a few years ago. I am not against your idea, but i don't think that would keep a ship sailing and I don't think that everyone here is totally into the + content, even if it is a big thing for many here, so it would be ditching those - even if they were a minority - that are not here because of that.

genuine question: what do you need all this performance (and especially RAM and storage) for?

You are not totally wrong, i go to Fthing for the last update game ( like tamara ch3 v9.01) but i found something here and if you try and invest yourself here i think you can find something too like my lastest thread The peoples here are insane and i've experiment it but it's a good thing and it's something you won't find anywhere else. The community is awesome, i'm wrong but it's my right and you can argue with me. I will have support for my point of vue and you will have support for yours we both win. There is no looser on Lewdcorner.
Community is the best thing and they have the most respect here because it's the most lurker. They take, they enjoy and they don't open a thread for nothing, you can verify it. I was a lurker for a long time i know they are the majority.

Yes, everyone has their own opinion, and we should all respect that. With the announcement of ATF's imminent closure, alternatives emerged in the comments section. There was even one promising one; I registered and read the rules. You have to make 15 posts and have a certain number of likes before you can see the site's content. In short, I told the site to go to hell. I don't usually comment on websites, forums, and the like, unless it's necessary. My life is very busy, I have little time for things, and I can't even play many games (I only see the images and animations). I played a lot in the past, and I think it ended up ruining my taste in games. I find everything too similar, boring dialogues, mostly zero realism, situations that would never happen in real life, I don't know, I don't have that same enjoyment for playing anymore. Therefore, of the online time I spend (for this type of content), 20% is on F59, 55% on ATF, 20% on Pixiv, and 5% here. I prefer ATF and Pixiv precisely for that reason: just random images and videos, without having to play games or read unrealistic and uninteresting text from the games. For me, that's what this type of content is for.
