I feel like I have a good grasp of English but every now and then I still encounter a word I don't know. What's your native language and do you have trouble finding VNs in it?

Mine is Russian. Lots of VNs and games have a Russian language option.

French, but i can read and understand fluent English. And if i dont know an expression, i use a translator

My native language is Russian. But I have no problems reading English texts. As for games, I try not to switch to Russian if someone else was involved in the translation (I have sad experience, alas) and mostly play in English. But there is at least one game that I'm following closely - Bright Past. It is created by a Russian-speaking developer who has a good mastery of his native language (a rarity nowadays, oddly enough). He plays well with semantic nuances, using slang or argot when necessary, which adds a certain charm to the game.
As for individual obscure words - online dictionaries for all tastes are at your service.

I'm french too, and I prefer to play the game in English even if there is a French translation.

I only speak two languages, English and bad English.

Mine is german.
(visit the german pub if interested: ->Link<- :giggle: )

But like many others I only consume these games in english.

Another one for English here

Language is a funny thing. I speak Spanish as native, but sometimes forgot the words I want to say, yet, I remember the word in English.

My only issue with English is that I do not remember which word is which, like through, though, thought...

Anyways, I consume these games on English, even if there is an option for Spanish. Its more easier.

My native language is German , i have seen some VNs having patches for it but i never bother with them and just stick to their english versions
But i did have the problem sometimes where i would forget the german word for something and had to google translate it lol

My native language is Swedish, but I use English everywhere. I don't think I've ever seen a VN in Swedish.

English is my native language and no I dont only problem is most avns have broken English and bad grammar making it a pain to read

mine is english

English, and no. But there have been quite a few in "Engrish" - which means poorly translated English:

Brazilian Portuguese.
I've been playing games in english nearly all my life, so I'm pretty good at it (at least written). If there's some word I don't know, it's usually some jargon and don't affect the understanding of the scene and context at all, so I just ignore it.
I've seen some VN translated in my language, but even normal games, movies and such I prefer to consume with english text. I've come to realize that many translations are made based on the english translation (if the original isn't english already), and also many words and expressions are translated wrong (using literal meanings for figurative speeches or plain mistranlations for false cognates and such).

lmao im native american and i thought thats what was meant by native for a second i was like damn we got a native community on here

My native language is Polish and I'm not even interested finding VN's in VN in Polish, some time ago I tried to translate VN into my language, but it's not the same as in English.
And since I speak/read almost fluently in English, I sometimes forget what language I read something in. :ROFLMAO:

Brazilian Portuguese. Sometimes bro, i don't even know what is going on :p

Unfortunately, my English is better than 90% of devs because it's second language to most of them, so games get frustrating to read at times. I wish I could read Russian or some of the Asian languages as some sites can't be translated and there are tons of asian comics, games and movies that aren't in English

German and no, i dont even want to play these games in german.
I hate dirty talk and gutter language, its an instant turnoff...but after years online it seems to be a natural part of common english, so i'm mostly used to it.
