Do you guys ever give them a specific name or just self-insert?
For me, I just use the name John and for more Asian ascetic games I go with Jun
In my head, he is a multidimensional being that travels the VN multiverse.

i usualy name the MC my gamer name, and if the MC is female, i name her arianne

I use the same name every time, I can't really stand games that don't let you rename the MC, especially ones with foreign devs (not the devs faults! they just give em weird names sometimes!). its one thing if its a regular name like mike, thomas, etc.... but I'd still rather just use the name I'm used to seeing.

if the other character's name is English name, then i will go my own name
but if the name is Japanese name, then i will go Sasuke
because i like sasuke in my childhood when seeing naruto lol

pretty much the same except he's always called Dipshit. acts like one most of the time too

It depends on whether or not the game has a visible protagonist. Nonvisible ones usually get a silly name related to the theme of the game. Visible ones get a name that matches their appearance.

I use my real name if game make me add a surname I create a fun surnames
