I've noticed that in games where you can choose your gender (concerns more than just games from this site) guys often choose female as their MC, and girls choose male. But does this apply to games with sexual content?

It would be interesting to collect statistics. Personally, i always choose a male in both type of games

The idea of controlling, moving, making the decisions, selecting equipment of a character, etc is and will always be related to self insertion. Far more than any other hobby.
For that I personally only truly enjoy games with male protagonists. Either here or in any other media.
And yes, there is a significant difference between playing an action heroine in Metroid and an action heroine in Karryn's Prison.

Not necessarily. When I play as a female in a game, especially if it is created (Fallout, Skyrim, Sims) I think of her as someone else, I give her a backstory and personality, I role play. Thus, my experience is vastly different than the times I actually self-insert.

I don't like games with female protagonist, period. As with all rules, there are exceptions. And the exceptions would be:

• Multiple Protagonists
• Exclusive yuri (only females on females action - no futa allowed)
• The gameplay feels like you control a girl/woman in a way you feel like a manager and not being part of her
• I just want to see nice renders and spank a quick one

The idea of being a woman and seeing things in their shoes does gross me out. If I have a feminine side, I'm pretty sure that's it is a lesbian.

Male protagonist just for the immersion. I've played with a female protagonist, but it's not the same.

In video games without sexual content I often will pick a female, because I like pretty girls and in games like Fallout 4, I would much rather look at a girls ass than a guys ass...
Now in a porn game I pick a male protagonist because I would rather see my character fuck a girl instead of my character sucking a dick.

Games with female protagonists tend to give you more freedom in what kind of fetiches you want to see and focus, while games with male protagonists tend to go towards variety of girls wich often makes a lot scenes kinda vanilla unless you're dealing with a trainer game. Even games where the male is a sub tends to lack variety because the author is a coward drawbacks from consumers

As for non-porn games i'd pick either depending on what looks cooler, hotter or cute in context, like if the camera is constantly in the character's ass imma pick a nice ass to look at

If a game calls for both male and female to move the story along then I will use the female just to move the story.
Will not do any sex with female MC while having to play one.

if there is a choice, then usually female. but sometimes one gender has more content, then it varies

If it is a game that has romance in it, I play a male character. If it doesn't, I usually make a female character because they are nice to look at.

When there is a choice male protagonist for sure but there are some good female only protag games like Her Desire and Project Myriam

Both are great, but I like seeing things from the girls perspective, especially if she "looses" herself in the action.
