Long form or short story type of VN, what do you prefer more?

Well it depends on the story and the type. For linear ones i prefer the shorter ones, for the multiple choice ones i prefer the longer ones.

Most of the stories I've enjoyed the most are long with well-fleshed-out characters. But there are games with stories which lasted a few scenes that I liked a lot.

Personally I'd like a more long form type of story so that I can get to know the character the dev created I enjoy the multiple worlds the devs make, it's like reading a book or manga. Though I don't mind a short story for a quick fap lol
The longer the better imo

I like EXTREMELY long ones. if I'm going to start a VN, I want it to last me hours on end worth of content, sadly this doesnt always happen, and sadder still, cant exactly expect a fast (or else you lose quality) update turn around for the really long ones. I like to get invested in the stories and characters, and I also like LOTS of NSFW scenes

The story must be well-researched, firstly, so that the reader does not abandon it after half an hour, and this implies a captivating plot. Secondly, it allows you to work out the characters of the characters in sufficient depth.
Well, in order to create a really a successful short story, you need talent, like Guy de Maupassant, Anton Chekhov or Ernest Hemingway. But people with this level of talent are unlikely start writing porn.

Either I suppose? I've always been a proponent of stories being as long as they need to be (real helpful comment I know). I've found both short and long stories I love because they understood that but preference wise? I'd probably give a slight edge to long form

To me it is about pacing if something is well paced I would rather it be as long as possible.

The problem with long stories is that they start to introduce too many LI that end up going nowhere.

I'd like to point out that long shouldn't mean that it's full of filler text. Every conversation, most dialog text should serve a real purpose such as advancing the plot or giving you useful new information about a character or situation. Filler just gets skipped.

I prefer the long form if they don't have grindings process that's too long and exhausting.
If the grind is too steep then that's when I rather chose the short form.

Long, slow burn. The down side to that is where too many characters get introduced which makes keeping track of them hard if there is a big gap between chapters. It also seems to increase the chance of the game being abandoned.

Long form is nice, if it's well written. Long form when it's mediocre is just a beating.
I do like to balance it out with shorter stories that are just 1 character.

Moderate is always best. It doesn’t overstay its welcome.

I highly recommend Monkey Business. It doesn’t get stuck in the oral sex phase forever like some of those grifting games do.

The issue I have is that when I am playing a porn game, I am in the mood for porn, so I can't really focus too much on the story if it is too long. Love to have some backstory, but also not be feeling like I'm reading a book. I read plenty of books already stuck in my room.
