Just me venting about ASUS custumer support

Just want to vent really got myself a ASUS 5080 in October 25 and two month later my screen started to turn off by January the card seemed to be dead for no reason that I saw so RMAd it and was unaware of how bad the ASUS support is (everything else I have from ASUS works never needed to RMA a thing from them).

They claim there is a crack in the PCB and not repairable. Still in contact with the seller and hoping for the best.

S23 camera but even under a Magnifying glass its just not visible and in general it feels like they just put the sticker on and didn't even test it or anything.

ASUS Customer Support? You'd have a better chance of scammers actually fixing your computer than them fixing anything up to and including their marriage.
 
im not an expert but pcbs have multiple layers so if the crack is in one of the inner layers it might not be visible from the outside. with newer cards being so heavy this can happen very easy around the connector to the mainboard.
For my PC-Build ive used 3d-printed support-pillars at the front of the card to take some weight off the connector.

That is true but I tried bending it on a corner(barely) where nothing runs through and was not able to move it. To crack a modern PCB would require a lot of force not like the old ones that could crack very easily.

Not really. Most PCB vendors are still using FR4 which has been around for 50+ years. It's also a lot easier to break traces on a PCB then you might expect, and once cracked can act in unexpected ways; anything from open circuits to weird inductance/capacitance issues at high digital speeds. Most times the cracks are only visible via x-ray.

I'm just posting this because I want to work my way up to + status.
Asus... well, what can I say about that? :unsure:

Man, that's rough. Dropping that kind of money on a 5080 only for it to die a couple months later would piss me off too. If they claim there's a PCB crack, they should at least be able to show clear evidence of it. If you can't even spot it under a magnifying glass, I'd be questioning that diagnosis as well. Hopefully the seller comes through for you because that whole situation sounds like a nightmare.
 
These graphics cards cost more than some people's monthly income. I can't believe they're giving you crap over it.

Probably at best chatted with an AI and then some real person with no contact to you just looked for any reason to not replace it. Customer support has really taken a fuck you and die approach lately
