Is it me or are games getting slower with updates?

1) players have higher expectations, which are more time intensive to meet.
2,) most, if not all adult game developers don't do it as their main career, and with the cost of everything going crazy, they may need to spend more time earning a living, resulting in less time to programming.
3) life is more stressful in general, which can sap energy and creativity.
4) There's probably a few (but a very tiny minority) who are in fact just milking patreon/etc.

Yeah, I think it's one of those things that's impossible to say is specifically caused by one thing or another. With the number of devs going up everyday, we're going to run into all of the types, and you'll only really be able to judge based on the individual dev themselves.

I think something people fail to realize is that most people that get into making these things don't have much vision. A couple themes + a few attractive characters and I'm ready to make a game. This is sufficient for an episode or two before they start to struggle with direction and the updates become slow and eventually stop.

Milk must flow. Though mainly depends on dev. Guess you simply followed wrong ones.

Yeah they are. There were some games I would look forward to a monthly release and now they are coming out like 6 months apart.

I hadn't noticed that. At least in the case of the games I follow closely. Not counting the completely crazy options, like in the case of Summertime Saga.
I'm more amused by users who, when discussing a game with a 4-month update cycle, start making stereotypical posts 3-4 weeks after the release of the last update: "Any update?", "When will the new update be released?" and God forbid the developer delays the release of the update by a day or two! Then there are comments "Milker!" etc.

Yes its 3 parts in my opinion. 1st part is due to the effect of certain developers mostly dark cookie and lust and passion who have shown it is possible to milk updates and still rake in cash without suffering for it, your average dev sees this and thinks if they can why cant i. 2nd also lets face it there is only so much originality in adult gaming if a concept succeeds other devs try to replicate it for the money and most often produce subpar stories that often become abandoned. 3rd part is just the truth that quality takes time we have learned this from the movie industry good movies take time to make youtube is full of low quality movies that are pumped out quickly adult games are no different.

I call it "change of seasons phenomenon"
