Incest Games Banned on Steam

To be fair, I don't know why they even allowed adult games on steam in the first place.
(Since Steam is for those age 13+)

- they are covered by filters. Considering that steam is an e-shop that often sells mature rated games, its up to parents to do their job to save their precious little wanker from evil of tiddies and learn how to be a proper daddy with crap like God of War or Last of Us.

I'm honestly surprised that it took this long for Steam to remove games. As soon as No Mercy got pulled, I knew it was the beginning of the end. Visa/Mastercard seem to have some moral high ground on porn games.

Fuck them. Why creditcard companies get to decide what we can and can't buy...

Games with furry content will be next, seeing as that is how these payment processors went with patreon and fansly. They start with the easy ones like rape and sholi, because it's "reasonable" to not "promote" these things. Then it goes things like hypnosis and incest, because "isn't that just rape and grooming under different names?" Then furry because "that's promoting bestiality." They're bullies, and bullies don't stop because you gave in.
Yeah, this is just a foot in the door my special interest groups who have inbred themselves into Visa and Mastercard circles.
First get rid of the controversial, then get rid of the uncertain, then get rid of the socially accepted but not generally hailed.
Same strategy every time.

I wasn't using Steam for incest and porn in the first place, so I'm not exactly affected, but I still think it sucks that a parasite whose only job is to move money get to decide what money is allowed to be used for.

Exactly this. It's not affecting me yet, but as the saying goes, "first they came for..."

Yep. There's been attempts on and off on trying to ban game with violence or nudity by conservatives for years. Every couple of years, they take a new shot, see if anything lands.

Just look at the Ready or Not Censorship and it becomes pretty easy to see how quickly this can start affecting games with gore, like Doom or Ready or Not.
Story-based games that feature maybe a few nude / sexual scenes without explicit sex might follow after (Dragon Age, Mass Effect, Baldurs Gate 3).

And the worry that the game you make might one day be kicked off from steam alone might incentivise publishers and developers to not even engage in making games that may contain content that in the future might possibly become controversial, even if it isn't right now. It's a big towards self-censorship.

And if you look at how they tried to get Detroit Become Human banned, you may even see games that deal with sensitive topics banned or self-censored, even if they deal with the issue tastefully and responsibly.

This is nothing short of an attack on video game culture itself and the freedom of developers to make products that the player decides the value of. Short of explicit legal violations, games should not be limited in their content. You cannot allow corporations to thought-control artistic expression.

I am personally very against all this. but...

This is free market economics. There is no government pressure here.

Businesses can make decisions for any reason they want. They weigh the risk/reward and see if the "juice is worth the squeeze."

This is the SAME hammer that has hit Patreon and SS, it just took longer and is getting more press because Steam is a massive player in the arena.

I was hoping Steam had the weight to keep these and that is why these games stayed on Steam for so long.

This isnt a "call your rep" situation, this is a "cancel your CC" situation, if you feel strongly enough. Im sure us perverts will really make VISA regret this... uh huh. yea.

I have purchased a handful of NSFW adult VNs on Steam. I am unsure if they will REMOVE the VNs.... or prohibit the Dev in updating them... or if I will get my money back (!!)_ if they remove them.....

Those are both excellent examples of dads given their circumstances though, especially the last of us.

Seems the Australian Feminazi's are back at it -

It was gonna happen sooner or later. MC and VISA has such a grip on the market and is the only payment processing service around, they tend to be able to go whatever they want without much consequences.

Very true.

On a completely unrelated side note, I've puttered as an amateur writer. Stating this purely as a writer just for RESEARCH, of course, your honour...
...what would the result be... in a book, of course... if everyone LEGALLY defaulted on their credit cards all at once... worldwide...
...obviously assuming they had nothing valuable to seize... ...what would happen to MC and VISA?
...asking as an amateur novelist... of course.

This group tried to get GTA V and Detroit Become Human banned in the past, so they might go further than just nuking porn. If they try pushing for Steam to remove more, actual games, at least Steam has its own internal payment processor with Steam Wallet. DLSite mostly managed to stay the same after switching over to a "buy some points, and use those points to buy games" middleman system.

Hmm, I hope this doesn't hard-core effect game development. It shouldn't considering most devs already have work around for incest bans in place. But yea.

- well... both "daddy" characters in those two games are psychopathic mass murderers. But alot of people do think that this duo are great examples of parent figures... for some reason. Its all just funny to me, how a shitty game can teach some manbabies to be dads, and than said "dads" go to steam forums and whine about dangers of pixel porn. All the while their fav games are M rated "feel good" murder fests.

it's the entropy of the internet. It was way easier to accidentally get involved in something uncomfortable 10 years ago. Now even if you seek out the dark most of it goes by the mainstream terms and conditions. Thank goodness there are still chaotic corners to run to.

I mean I get god of war but how was Joel a psychopath? It's been a while since I played last of us and I never really got to the end but I don't remember him being evil
