Def not , maybe just do the age verification instead of nagging about
so you're pro give all your info to private companies so they can do who knows what with it?

Do not worry it will always get worse
The solution to that for Pornhub was to block access to states that do that.

Yep most red or republican states will be blocked it's much easier for that site.

Use a VPN but as you can see they are the next target.

This has been done in the uk all the work a round's that have been posted patched.

You talk like discord is a open platform with a search function 16 year old timmy can go to discord login in search lewdcorner then jerk off to the NSFW content that is not at all possible.

All discord had to do was allow parents to see what stuff timmy was subbed to we already need a email with a account so the parent would see via that account on a dashboard what is going on. Heck here is something even more crazy parents giving kids restricted access to the internet via router child safety filter and phones made for kids. But my parents just gave me a pirated big dish with a remote in my room LOL.

My comment had absolutely nothing to do with Lewdcorner and your misinterpretation of what I was actually saying is on you mate.

A "16 year old Timmy" absolutely can and does use Google search. Which points them to websites that promote Discord servers by the thousands, and yes - that includes NSFW or adult oriented servers. There's quite a lot of sites like those + Discord servers that either promote other servers or use bots to bombard you with invite links. Not to mention friends inviting them, and alike.

Could they have done things in a better, more user-friendly way ? Theoretically - absolutely. Lawfully - I really don't know, but I would assume that they could have (within limits, they're still bound by laws imposed on them as a high profile social platform).

You strike me as someone that understands that these laws aren't targeting Discord alone, which is basically the gist of it.. so I'm not exactly sure what you appear to be confused about.
Not that it matters anyways, people are more than welcome to decide what they personally think about something and whether or not they want to use X service.

Personally, I like Discord quite a lot and have been using it on practically daily basis for about 5 years. I don't use social media such as Facebook, "X", Instagram, Tiktok and whatever the hell is out there. I don't use it for porn either. I'm not thrilled about this upcoming requirement, but I'm not worried about it either because it's extremely easy to navigate through it + age verification is slowly becoming a trend that we can't really do much about anyways.

As for going into the broader discussion of what is basically about kids & internet - I'm not gonna do that, sorry. I do agree with your comment regarding parents needing to do their part if they want to moderate or shelter their kids from all the crazy shit they might find otherwise. Plenty of tools and tutorials for that, but that's their choice. I doubt majority of them are doing this though, otherwise we probably wouldn't be seeing situations like this in the first place.

Anyways, that's all from me. I respect your opinion, I just didn't appreciate words being put into my mouth.. but whatever. Have a good one!

Its all of usa soon so for them to keep the servers going that might change before it was a handful of states.

I will try to be creative with using fake ID, AI faces and stuff. If worst, they promised Teen accounts to work properly just without access to NSFW servers. But no one forces you to put this tag in your server.
If their weird new rules can get abused, then I dont see reasons for me to change platform.

That will not work its been done in the UK was countered by them using AI to monitor your posting they admitted that the same system is going world wide.

So based on how you message people and or what you post is going to determine that id legitimacy.

Not proven yet but it is out there a program like google is using to check any dupe ids head 2 uk boards were the same id on multiple accounts gets flagged again discord has been hush hush on this but it is something happening.

I’ve really enjoyed the porn community on discord, but several servers I’m in have already said they will delete the server if this rule is enacted.

I'm not using it a lot anyway but yeah, I ain't taking pictures of myself thats for sure :ROFLMAO: (and the only reason i really use it if ever is the precise reason I would need to do it...)

Of course, how is there even a discussion about it? If a website/app demands your personal info, you don't use the website/app. That's cyber hygiene 101

Yeah I'm not so sure what discord is really trying to even achieve with all of this. Do they really expect that this won't just absolutely tank them? Oh well, guess it's back to TeamSpeak :ROFLMAO:

from what i understood they already backed out from it a least a bit, but if they forced me to give information i would stop using it yes.

I use discord for chat. I don't trust them with my id. So i wont verify but i probably will still keep using it until a better alt comes out.

Yes. I stop using any site which asks for personal information, beyond clicking a 'Yes, I'm over 18' disclaimer.

This issue is much deeper than some people think.

It's not just about giving your data to a company that is known and has been confirmed beyond reasonable doubt not only to not delete personal information after receiving it, but also to share it with partners who distribute it among other services.

It's also about the absolute loss of privacy and anonymity on the internet. And there are idiots who argue, “If you've done nothing wrong, you have nothing to fear,” ignoring the fact that private information is private for a very good reason. Because there are a lot of people out there with bad intentions, and it's very bad if those people get their hands on such sensitive information.

The biggest problem is that if we just accept this Discord crap, it's like declaring to all the other companies something like:

“Yes, I agree that you can all take all my private information, share it with your partners, geolocate me, know what I'm doing at every moment of the day, use that information as you see fit, and not be blamed if there's a leak and that information falls into the hands of criminals.”

As has happened many times before, when states and companies want something they know they can't have because it violates people's rights, they use an excuse to get it. The most commonly used excuse is “to protect children,” and as always, there are mentally challenged people—because there's no better way to put it—who buy into this nonsense and applaud it as if it were genius, as if large private companies had woken up one day and said, “Clearly, I must invest time and resources in protecting children, not making more money.”

Let me be clear, the internet has NEVER been safe for anyone, much less children, and it is the responsibility of parents to prevent them from looking at crap. In fact, they have many tools to do so, and it takes less than an hour to watch several tutorials on YouTube for that purpose.

The internet is known for having no rules, but there are three sacred rules:

- DO NOT SHARE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION WITH ANYONE.
- NOTHING THAT GOES ON THE INTERNET EVER DISAPPEARS.
- YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT YOU SAY AND DO ONLINE JUST AS YOU ARE IN REAL LIFE.

I would but my entire social circle is on disc. I dont do anything that requires ID ver but i'd rather not have to leave

I mostly use discord for TTRPG and general discussion over specifict themes so it might be rather meh to me, but it will probably lead to overeach and poor moderation over what is 18+ specially once they sell the platform wich is probably why they are doing this now. So chances are it will be a slow migration over the enshitification and mismanagement of data

Yeah I don't agree with the ID thing, rather not have that be a thing

If I have to prove my age by giving them my more personal data than an email, I am not going to use the service. I don't really use it that much anyway. I just have to see how many roadblocks I run into with the default unverified account.
