Almost never, playing as girl is way too easy.
The only time i have is when there are some interesting fetishes like in Cara in Creekmaw

I only remember playing two games that had it, the first one started with a male mc but later on makes a female clone of himself to get with the some of the characters.

The other game had both male and female mc that you could switch between and had separate stories aside from a couple scenes but sadly its like basically abandoned

I often choose the opposite sex in games because their attractive to me, speacially with 3rd person perspective. seeing a female ass is much more fun than seeing a male one.

In SFW games I occasionally play as a female if the option is there. However in NSFW games I much prefer playing as male. I don't mind playing a section as a female before going back to my usual male protag but that's about it as seeing the same female have fun with a bunch of different males doesn't do anything for me.

I prefer playing as a dude. And I don't mind playing as a gal if shes cool, for example: I really liked the 2013 Tomb Raider, but I think I quit playing Shadow of the Tomb Raider pretty fast after hearing her whining, which is kind of funny since they talked about how they were making her a better character or something. Giver her more developed arms and more practical cloths, but make her a bit of a whinny bitch, that really didn't work for me since I've always seen her as a badass.

In porn games, pretty much never, aesthetically I enjoy looking at a good mix of female bodies, and interactively, I like playing the character that does the fucking, rather than getting fucked.

In other games though, it depends a lot on the game. Is the male/female VO better/worse? Does the story make more sense as a male or female? Am I gonna be staring at this characters ass for a prolonged period of time?

I almost always go for a female character unless there is a direct reason I wouldn't, such as if the game is based around a male MC viewpoint and choosing female locks you out of scenes.

Regular games? When given a choice I will almost always pick the dude. If there is only one MC and it is a chick? Doesn't bother me at all. Spicier games? Always a male.

Although its hard for me to pick a favorite on which i prefer. Only because theres amazing games on both of those ends and do very well either story wise or even visually that make me love them both
