How important is an engaging storyline to you?

I personally think it depends a lot on the game. I don't consider graphics to be as important, as I more so care about the art style of the game. Story, however, can make or break a game for me.
Once again, it does depend on the game. Not every game has a focus on story, but then the gameplay has to carry the weight. By contrast, if a game does focus on its story, it better be worth it. Not every game can pull that off, it takes genuine effort to create a convincing narrative that also stands out above the rest.

The plot is an absolute priority for me. If the plot is weak, then no amount of pictures, no matter how masterfully executed, can sustain interest in the game or VN. In general, creating a dull, boring plot is a black mark for the developer. Not everyone is gifted with storytelling talent, just as not everyone is capable of creating engaging gameplay. And the absence of an engaging plot implies the absence of well-developed characters, which ultimately consigns such a VN or game to the dustbin of history. There is no engagement - this follows from the factors mentioned above.

Please excuse my English - I am using a machine translator.

Story, but the graphics have to complement it. The whole "show, don't tell" thing is important.
Don't show me dialogue with *"hahaha*", show the characters having fun instead.

The story itself can be about anything, as smart or as dumb as you'd like it to be... But it has to be well-crafted and internally consistent. For me, character depth is more important than the storyline itself. I'd rather play a slice-of-life drama with deep characters than a mediocre high fantasy with one-dimensional ones.

for me it has to be the most important part of the game even above sex, because i think VNs are the only visual porn type that actually has decent stories, you know compaired to the hub you have shitty acting and stepcest stuff

A good story is the difference between actually reading the text, or spam clicking to scenes. I think a decent example is Power Vacuum, where the early chapters had a lot of story set up, characterization, and exploration of the games themes [primarily the taboo of incest]. The later chapters have become just a bunch of one liners and throw away jokes even tho there's still supposed to be the overarching plot of the grandfather having a nefarious plan for the family. Definitely feels like the dev stalled out on the actual plot of the game and just started focusing on getting scenes in.

To me a good story is awesome and can make a game you go back to again and again. But a fun quick game with minimal story is nice sometimes too.

The story needs to be engaging enough for me to relate to the characters, but after that I actually don't want too much story heavy content. I prefer a game like this keep it simple, create good characters, and make good teasing scenes with good arcs. I'll play 100 games where you're a student trying to hook up with your sister as long as those elements are done well. If you're trying to right epic fantasy or scifi with lewdity scattered here and there I'm not interested.

the story and gameplay is a big part of the experience of an adult game
if those were not important than there are no reason to play this kind of games, the internet offer endless pictures or videos
the engaging and special connections with the characters is what differentiate this form of media than others
this is a basic part of gaming, an active hobby

Very important, why make a game if you dont tell a story. If the game is something where its just like select what you want your chara to wear then fuck, then it doesnt matter. If its a normal game (god forbin a visual novel) the story should at least make sense. You dont need to be the next Hemingway, but at least just try

Honestly, more important than it should be, I love drawn-out slow-burning games, and those usually only get me really hooked with a really good story.

storyline is everything otherwise your game is just another hundred of others about a man coming back to his hometown and everything's changed or another post apocalyptic game about what it means to survive.

I think it's like a lot of media - a good story will keep people interested. I've watched a lot of shows and even anime/manga that are visually interesting, but the story is boring. Even some porn doujins are draw really well, but I don't care about the scenario they're in. For me, the story has to at least be passable.

a good story make the game greater because we developp interest for the characters and it's make more exciting when the sex come facial expressions all the dialogue wo make the heat up... art is important but without a good story it's half what it can be

It is absolutely a big part of it for me. Even the best art loses me if there's no good story to speak of.

In a H-Game its not IMPORTANT.
BUT, it's always a nice addition. If I like the porn and I like the story I'm more likely to play your game longer for sure.
