Some play for the intrigue, the well-developed characters, the suspense, being drawn into a VN or game, compelled to keep playing just to find out what happens next. Others play for visual stimulation, fascinating art that shows you things you ordinarily would seldom or never see. A well-made adult game knits those media together seamlessly, creating a complete package that takes the player on an escapist journey to parts unknown where angels fear to tread. But if you only had access to games with great art but uninteresting stories or great stories but crappy artwork, which would you prefer? What first attracted you to these games, and why do you continue playing them hour after hour? Which is more important, the story or the art?

As for me, I'm more visually oriented. I appreciate a well-crafted story, but I play these games primarily to enjoy the artwork.

Graphics for me, because ultimately it is a porn game. while a bad story is probably going to get me to drop a game, I can put up with some level of incompetent, or not very believable writing, whereas I'm not going to stick around for any level of art I don't find at least mostly good.

Depends on the type of game 2d games can get away with worse graphics then 3d games can but story needs to be good in both

Graphics. You can ignore a bad story if the art is good, but it's harder to ignore bad art, even if the story is good. At that point, you might as well be playing a text game.

Too bad of either can be a deal breaker but if I have to choose definitely graphics. Then worst case it's still porn. Hopefully interactive porn. I have zero interest in a game that has bad art. If I want to play a game then I'd play a normal game. If I want to watch a story then I'll watch a tv show or something.

I'll play a game with mediocre graphics if the story is good enough, and has well developed characters. Unfortunately, in this genre, those are few and far between. But the best graphics can only rescue a story to a point, some are just so bad I can't play them.

I would say both are important to the development of a good game otherwise as the player you will feel letdown in some way one doesn't trump the other

Henry Stickman has character designs consist of stick men/woman and hats. People have made adult content based on them just due to how fun the game and cast can be. A good story/mechanics can carry a lot of things, just ensure the art isn't complete dogshit.

While I greatly value story, I'll play a game with a crappy plot but good art. I won't play a porn game with very bad art, even if it was written by Tolkien himself

For me it's not exactly the "story", but the writing. I mean, even if the story is average, the writing can make for it if it's nice. Of course if both the story and the visuals are bad there's no saving

Imo good stories enhances game with good graphics and vice versa. But i cant enjoy a game with shit graphics even if it has a 'good' story, its all relative though.

Story, a bad story will get a game dropped first. But Along with that is good editing/ translation.

Graphical realism/quality are less important than how they are utilized. Facial expressions are the most important aspect in terms of visuals (which is why DMD is absolute garbage IMO).
