How do you moderate your porn consumption?

I've tried to quit many times but always failed. Perhaps is it a better goal to just try to moderate it?

What methods or types of thoughts do you practice to moderate the amount of time you spend on porn/visual novels/games?

Do you plan on ever quitting entirely?
 
Easy. When my wrist hurts, or my skin peels, then it is time for a break.

The pain will keep me in line.

No, I don't ever plan on quitting porn. It comes and goes in waves, sometimes I look at a lot (whatever that is), and sometimes I don't look at it for a long time.
 
I don't have any need to moderate it. When I'm at home, I have plenty of sex. So there is neither need not opportunity for porn consumption. When I'm on business travel there is nothing better to do in the evening in the hotel. So I just do what I feel like doing whenever I'm done with work.

Distract your brain and body with something else on a regular basis. What you do a lot becomes a habit, and habits are hard to break without creating a new different habit.

What @mime already said... if it's being a negative trait to you, moderate, or try some help from psychologist (always the better choice).

Main method: do something else to fill the time spent watching porn.
With this in mind, you decide what that something else will be.

In my case, I spend energy doing some sports, hiking to waterfalls or going to the beach, and having dates/sex IRL.

Why did I mention something physical? Because that's usually what releases endorphins! But you can find other things that generate a feeling of satisfaction, of fulfillment.

Pornography is associated with addiction due to the endorphin (raising serotonin/dopamine) generated in the moment. It's an addiction because you start to feel that what you already consume is not enough and you look for other alternatives, other games, other themes.

Probaly not. I used to be addicted.
Today I consider it a hobby. I can go without it, regardless of the time, without suffering because of it.

I dont use common porn at all. At most i check on a yearly base if there are new videos for "lesbian twins" since thats something you dont find often irl and the few you find mostly have a busy schedule 😾
Aside from that i only use selfmade porn and only when i dont have anyone available to replace my hand.
And i dont consider avn porn, thats why i need a good story or lots of humor to play them, stupid fuckfests are insta-delete waste. Except for lesbian lolis i dont even use them when i get horny while playing, i prefer to alt-tab to my player 😼

When I spend time on these games for some consecutive days I automatically think about taking a break to focus on other interests (ordinary games, youtube, movies/series, reading,...), so I don't think I'm nearly as excessive as I could be. Still too much time for most people I think, but as long as I'm not addicted....

And I have no plans to quit. When I get in a serious relationship the time spent will drop quite a bit, but there will always be things I like about these games that won't happen irl and they'll stay relevant/interesting. Maybe I find someone who likes the same things, that would increase the time again 😘

Leave your door open. The chance that someone comes by and sees you browsing or wanking it to porn is a good deterrent. Keep at it long enough and you'll develop a habit of not opening your browser and going straight to porn. Set a schedule you're not allowed to look up porn. If you want something more intense then install a website blocker for when you eventually slip up. If you're gooning away and it's having a negative impact on your life, you need to think about seeking professional help.
 
be busy. go for a run. go for a walk. exhaust urself. u will be too tired to do anything. ignore the desire. watch a movie or if u cant ignore it do an active task.
 
If you aren't spending your energy on other things (work, studies, exercise, hobbies, whatever else) then you will overindulge in porn and such. You do you but if it becomes a problem you just need to invest that energy somewhere else. Get to the point when you know you need a wank and the porn will hit new highs you weren't used to instead of doing it because you're bored and beating your poor flesh like it has disappointed you to porn you aren't stimulated by as much anymore.
 
Unless it's actively messing with your life, I don't really see a need, otherwise exercise I've noticed helps since I'm usually too tired at night to bother, also dopamine or something while you exercise idk im not a doctor.

I dont, but i try to lock myself to only once a day. I actually hope that when i find someone i can actually quit. I think that the easiest way to get rid of that is making the changes slowly. Try to do it 6 times instead of 7 on the the whole week and see if you can actually keep going like that
