If it's full screen, you can't see the taskbar, either.

True, but most games I play don't default to fullscreen.

And even there the Alt+Tab and Win+Tab (not Shift+Tab, whoops) combos still work.

I like having the option but I almost never use it because I save and use the back options too much

Would seem to be a potentially useful feature, so if not too difficult to include in a game would be nice if more Devs did so.
