discussion Harem for play toys or concubines?

Many folks like harem, but do you like to have them all as just toys for your character when he wants a role in the sheets, or do you envision your character as Gengis Khan wanting to mass populate the world and forcing folks to question their relations to others?

Neither. I don't really like harem games because i have trouble remembering those characters after a while.

Neither.
I prefer my girls to be free individuals, in games and in reality.
In games its mostly a selfish collection, often even a cheating group where the girls dont even know they are in a "harem" or are just breeding stock. But i dont replay these games. In the end i only keep the games with protagonists treating their girls as humans, not as meat.
And since i prefer female/lesbian protagonists the breeding shit is more of a turn off.

I prefer games where the protagonist has an actual relationship of some kind with each girl in the harem (which generally does tend to mean a smaller harem). There's nothing interesting to me about an endless series of meaningless scenes with 'toys'.

Mind you, this doesn't mean all those relationships have to be perfectly wholesome and happy, or that there can't be side girls or whatever. But the 'main' harm members should be actual characters who have a relationship with the MC beyond just sex.

how I see is that they are 2 types of harems ones about relationships and ones about sex of course both have what the other has but what it comes down to is the goals of the developer and if their focus is on how developed the characters or having as many sex scenes as possible

little bit of both i think i like when the mc has goals beyond a harem but not so much that they are accidently building a harem i like the feeling of conquest and actively seeking women to add to my collection lol maybe i shouldve made general grievous my pfp

When given the option, I always pick the corruption route. I like having the MC mindbreak a character or make her submissive, and if I can do that for multiple characters, I will. It's just fun to imagine a harem of girls who have "fallen" and are only meant to be playthings for the MC.

Prefer harem. Especially a long game where your harem is slowly build up with all sorts of character challenges. Love it. A compartmentalized harem.

Well it depends on the game how it establishes, if it is a harem of corruption as the word says in corrupting and being submissive. If it is a romantic harem, I make the game romantic and familiar, I like harem games
