Now this is just talk but as we know the ps5 brought in $70 games the playstation 6 is next year and you got AAA budgets between 400-700 million for trash.

Would you accept AAA games at $80 AA games at $60?

Edit February 12th 2025 the game could be sold as 2 versions.

I would guess most other games will stay at the standard prices. GTA is special in culture and staying power. They can demand dumb amounts I think and will not see any loss in sales year over year. Many games live our die by week 1 sales but huge franchise games make huge profits on the backend. Think Skyrim, Final fantasy, and GTA. Short term they will sell less volume but can get artificial infusions on demand by putting sale prices out over very long periods of time.

Also no, I have been gaming long enough FOMO is gone. Until its sub 30 bucks who gives a fuck. I love dnd, but no boulders gate 3 for me yet since the price has not dropped enough.

I got BG3 disc version price was good enough

Yeah good point on the fanboy crap look at gtao they shovel crap in there mouth's but make over 600million a year then 2k milking there sports fans yet the players love paying real world prices on fake digital items.

Call of duty recently was shown to have budgets as high as 700million but turn a profit with in 2 weeks yet those games are very stale or have that special dlc.

As loathe as I am to say it, kinda yes. I hate the idea of paying more for games but I'm also aware that even just based purely on inflation, you'd expect games to be significantly more expensive than they were 25 years ago. That's even without the insane explosion in production costs- hundreds of millions for a game is madness.

But frankly I'd much rather the AAA companies adjusted their priorities and focused on actual quality instead of asymptotic levels of graphical perfection.

If it's as good as the last few were then it will be the first game actually worth $100

They're just milking console players, of course it'd be kinda expensive
They said it's going to be woke, so who knows maybe they will lower the prices after the potential failure
wait 6 month and the price is down to 30.
If you're talking about PC platform and steam, however you'd need to wait 3 or 5 years until they decide to realease it on PC

no, i mean playstation or xbox.
just wait for the first price drop and then for the summer, x-mas, black friday etc. sale.
paying full price for games these days is just stupid or you have enough cash that it doesnt matter.

Good point this could be a GTA5 situation built for the xbox 360/playstation 3 then hardly a year later tossed onto the playstation 4/xbox one with new modes/options then 2 years later they pulled dlc support for gtao on 360/ps3. So gta 6 playstation 6 day one.

No doubt thanks to that horrific rockstar launcher and the massive security issues the pc version will be out there on the seas.

The inflation argument to me losses all steam when you see that all 2010 millionaires are billionaires and the 2010 billionaires are set to be trillioanries.

Then you get the cost of production going down as the digital age means to cd factories just digital store 100% in there pocket or 60% if its on steam or what ever.

No e3 at all also just upload to youtube even adds now are all ai.

If you sit down you see less than 10 people controlling all the food/oil/wood etc heck cosco just put 60 billion last 12months into there bank pure profit but the teamster's union for there stores is headed for a strike because they were told no for a basic wage/coverage increase.

If you take 10 billion from that profit of costco then at then end of the year every employee last count was 330,000 can get 30 grand

But its inflation not greed sure

Again my opinion.

That's unrelated. Inflation is about the cost of most common day to day products.

We do see they increased, we can calculate how much they increased and if we take inflation into account we know the ratio of money between now and let's say 25 years ago to be able to buy the same things (and it changed a lot).

What you are talking about however is that the system is failing to auto-regulate itself and the inequalities are increasing more and more rapidly. Which is true but doesn't change that inflation is real.

I think the biggest problem is the poor allocation of money, too much money goes to the HR department, advertising and unnecessary garbage, that and chasing a graphical advance that costs more and more and gives less results. That inflates the price of a game that costs 100 dollars but feels like it costs 50.

Well, for one thing that's Costco, not video game companies.

For another, as someone else pointed out, the fact that some companies are making huge profits does not negate the very real fact that inflation is a thing. A lot of basic goods are now 2-300% of what they cost 25 years ago, while this thread is talking about a potential ~67% increase for video game prices. I don't think that's because EA is just such a wonderfully ungreedy company.

From what I read about the game, that they're making it less funny by doing away with "offensive humor," I doubt I'll buy the game at all. If I do it will be at a steep sale. No way in hell I'm paying $100 for a game. The AAA game companies have burned their bridges with me. I'm not paying full price ($60) without first knowing the game is good and the game is fixed/optimized. Maybe that's a month. Maybe it's 6. Maybe it's a year. If it's been a year then I'm sure as hell not paying that much for a year old game lol.

It's like the Total War franchise never being on sale. I just never bought some of those games in the end.

There's way too many good indie developers I give my money to. I give money to people who make mods of games (like Bannerlords), and I play these gooner games. I don't have the time or money to give to a company that wants to waste hundreds of millions of dollars on trash. Let them go bankrupt.

guess i'll pass on it then. Not paying $100

Huh? Many games with black people in them are successful. What does woke have to do with anything?

I will not even bother to torrent this latest formulaic goyslop.

I sometimes feel like I'm taking crazy pills, GTA only ever got worse after San Andreas, from gameplay depth to actually likeable characters or writing.

For a hundred fucking dollars, I'd expect Kiwami 1 -quality combat system, a map where there are actually meaningful things to find, gunplay on the level of at least CS:GO, and being able to make actually meaningful choices in the story, like an RPG. Even in the comments here I see people starting to bend over and start peeling their asscheeks apart for Rockstar's latest copypasted crap that is going to have the depth of a washbasin.

Are you the same people who bought Fallout 4 for your smart fridge and Skyrim Fucktarded Edition for your toaster?
