Ren'Py, Godot, RPG Maker, Unity and HTML games, translated in one click

GameGlot translates games that never got an official translation — visual novels, dating sims, RPGs. Pick the game, pick a language, press one button.

How it works
  1. Unzip and run GameGlot — nothing to install.
  2. Choose the game.
  3. Pick a language, press "Translate game". A couple of minutes later you're playing.

Supported engines
  • Ren'Py 6–8 — reads .rpa archives and compiled .rpyc scripts; phone/chat UIs, choices with stat tags, emoji
  • Godot 3 and 4 (up to 4.7) — .pck and single-exe builds; Dialogue Manager, Dialogic, Ink, Yarn
  • RPG Maker MV, MZ, VX Ace, VX, XP — including archived games (Game.rgss3a / .rgss2a / .rgssad) and plugin texts (quest logs, menus)
  • Unity — Mono and IL2CPP, Unity 2017–6: chats, dialogues, menus (a translation plugin is added to the game folder; F9 toggles translation). On Mac/Linux — Windows builds via Whisky, CrossOver, Wine or Proton
  • HTML games (Twine) — SugarCube and Harlowe: passages, choices and links

What you get
  • Pictures stay in place — phone chats with photos, icons, emoji and colored text keep working
  • No boxes instead of letters — if the game's font lacks your language's letters, GameGlot swaps in one that has them
  • Choices, names, menus and thoughts are translated — even text the game builds while it runs
  • Translation is prepared before you play — no lag on every line
  • The original is kept: Godot gets a "Game (EN).exe" copy, Ren'Py one extra file, RPG Maker keeps the original next to it. One button removes the translation
  • 35 languages, both ways. Google, Microsoft and Yandex free without keys; DeepL / Yandex Cloud with your own key
  • Expert mode: every line in one table, manual edits, CSV export/import
  • Windows, macOS and Linux

Free / full
The free version translates the beginning of every game (first 1000 lines) — enough to check it works on your game. Whole games need a monthly supporter key (Patreon). I'd rather be upfront about that.

Download:

The app isn't code-signed yet, so Windows may say "Windows protected your PC" → "More info" → "Run anyway".
VirusTotal:

A game doesn't translate or looks wrong? Press "Send report" in the app and post the file here with the game name — I fix reports fast. HTML games and Unity are next.

Please translate for personal use only — don't upload translated games, they contain the developer's content.

Update 3.1: GameGlot now runs on macOS and Linux, and the free version translates 1000 lines per game (was 300). There's also a "Send report" button — if a game doesn't translate, send me the report and I'll look into it.

GameGlot 3.3 is out — HTML games made with Twine (SugarCube, Harlowe) now translate in one click: pick the .html, pick a language, play. The original file is kept next to it.

Unity is next — already running in testing on phone/chat games.

GameGlot 3.4 is out — Unity games now translate in one click: Mono and IL2CPP, Unity 2017 to Unity 6, phone/chat games included. Pick the game's .exe, pick a language, play — F9 toggles translation / original.

On Mac and Linux it works with Windows Unity games run via Whisky, CrossOver, Wine or Proton — GameGlot sets it up itself.
Godot games with their own translation files are now fully translated too.

GameGlot 4.0 — AI translation and a lifetime key. Coming mid-NovemberThe big one in 4.0 is AI translation. It translates whole scenes instead of single lines, keeps character names and genders consistent, and knows who is speaking (Ren'Py, Godot Dialogue Manager, RPG Maker MZ). Dialogue reads much more naturally than regular machine translation.
  • Free on your own GPU with Ollama or LM Studio — unlimited, nothing leaves your PC
  • Free cloud tiers (Cerebras, OpenRouter free models) — roughly one game a day
  • Lines the AI skips fall back to the regular translator, so the whole game always gets translated
Lifetime key — one-time $12. Full 4.0 with no expiry, including all 4.0.x fixes, for one computer. No subscription needed. Also in 4.0: Godot games shipped as a plain folder (e.g. Strive for Power), your chosen font now replaces the game's fonts, short labels like "Walk/Run" and "M.DEF" are no longer skipped.Release: mid-November. Got a game you'd like checked before release? Post it here.
