A recent game is actually called "Mind Control" by specialmind. Liked the start and how the mind control was implemented.

Found it on itch.io and 95. Can't find it here.

I second that sentiment, OP.

Darkest Dungeon really perfectly nails that kind of 'X-Com' reminiscent perma-death team building metagame in a way few others in the genre really do. And on it's actual gameplay front (which is nothing like X-Com I should add) it's a pretty deep and sometimes pretty challenging tactical RPG that isn't afraid to punish the unprepared.

"Fall.Out" by dvoika games is a good one in my opinion, good art and easy gameplay. recently released new 0.6.0 version after a long pause.

Also "Modern Luxury" is a game I keep playing from time too time, Good full 3D on Unreal with good model and animation.

I remember seeing that but not wanting to try it due to it being an RPGM game, maybe I'll give it a second chance now

Oh, I totally get the appeal! That feeling of breaking through to something of a genuine emotional connection with an otherwise surface-level and detached partner can, when done right, hit even harder than the generic 'blossoming flower' style romance.

Unfortunately it is an actual effort to write such an arc so I don't see a great many games attempt it. There's something of such a route for Lexi in Love, Sex and Second Base but it never quite hits that level. Palla from the same game is a better example, although she is more generally bitchy than 'experienced'.

Otherwise I can only really think of Roxxy from Summertime Saga, but I doubt there's anyone out there who isn't already familiar with that game and it's cast.

Really interested to hear anyone else's suggestions!
