I think there are certainly too few stories that start with a love setting rather than almost always being a tabbo fantasy that requires corruption

Tough question, I don't really do favorites, so I'm gonna go by era:
- Fallout 2, Planescape: Torment, Total Annihilation, Diablo, Wing Commander 4 for the 1990s
- Halo:CE, Diablo 2, Warcraft 3, C&C 3, Supreme Commander, Mass Effect 2, Dawn of War, Morrowind for the 2000s
- DotA, DotA 2, Neverwinter, Overwatch, plus a bunch of oldies like Age of Empire 3, Alpha Centauri, Borderlands for the 2010s

Light of my life doesn't seem very good if you take into account the girls' appearance, but it's actually very good.

Agree with you there. When 1st seen the pics I was not sure about the game but then gave it a try and glad I did as it is very good.

I may be the odd one then, LomL's art got me interested the moment I first saw the previews. The only thing that kept me from trying it out was that looked too much vanilla. Then the day finally came and indeed it is very vanilla. But omg is it good. I never thought I would like such a vanilla game that much, let alone love it. Very unique, I wouldn't know how to describe it but it's on my top best vns for sure.

Games with non-standard art style, be it 3D or 2D, have a tendency to easily get passed over. Personally, I tend to avoid games where the characters seem afflicted with plastic-skin syndrome.
Another potential issue is that previews rarely get updated, while the artist improves his/her skills over the years. Also, some games suck early on, but improve massively later on, meaning that people will quit before the game gets going, or stick with their first (poor) impressions.

Light of my life has been mentioned numerous times, I'll second Midlife crisis & superhuman.
