It depends... BUT a sandbox game does need a cheat mode in my opinion... (a little bit of grinding is ok, but a lot of devs that produce sandbox overdo this just for the sake of 'longplay with not too much work'...

Depends. If it's open world where you can do different things, good. If it's just having to find the right place to go to advance the game. it sucks ass. Be better to just not have it and be a VN - go to the next place automatically. Waste of time trying to find where to go.

If it's sandbox .. the world must be small meaning easy to navigate and moves the story forward
