Maybe it's a game you had no interest in... Maybe it was in an engine you don't normally play.... Maybe it had tags you don't normally enjoy... Maybe it was by an unknown Dev (or worse, a Dev you actively disliked before hand!).

I'd love to hear Games that Surprised and, most importantly, WHY they surprised you?
Kobold Kare ended up being a guilty pleasure. (Profile pic unrelated) I never fapped to it but planting eggs, popping up kobolds and being able to breed different traits with these ridiculous, completely adjustable, and janky furries kept me entertained for much longer than I'm comfortable admitting.

That honestly sounds like something I'd lowkey love...

Strange as it sounds, Proud Father. It's fantastic, sure, but for whatever reason it left a bad first impression on me. I thought the models were uncanny, the personalities grating (especially the lesbian daughter) and the tone not at all to my liking. I actually gave up on playing it for a few months at first, and only gave it a second chance when I rediscovered it in some folder on the outskirts of my hard drive. It's a great favourite now, just as it probably is for many people, but it definitely didn't start that way.

Ravager. I personally really dislike bestiality, so to have a game where the main character is a dragon did not appeal to me at all, resulting in me not checking it out until years after it first released. Despite that all the other tags did appeal to me (rape, slave, pregnancy, harem, mind control, incest, ...) and so I gave it a try anyways. I was honestly surprised that it's well written, has some nice visuals (the current screenshots in the thread are outdated and don't do it justice at all as the art was entirely overhauled), a ton of various fetishes and scenes, actual story progression (slow as it may be due to the variety of routes), and that the MC being a dragon didn't even put me off as much as I thought it would as he's only visible during sex scenes and even then the visual focus is on the other character(s).

For me it was Light of my Life. I always found the girls very strange, they looked like goblins, but when I started playing the story is so good that you end up forgetting that. Today it is one of my favorites and the oldest daughter was pretty hot.

Hello Possums (like Dame Edna would say)
I'm looking for a game, I can't remember the name. It's about a family (really? - unbelievable ;-) ) where the time is repeating every night like in "Groundhog Day". The son is having sex with sisters and mom, but you need passion. Every night at 2:.00 (?), the day starts once again. Do you know it?

Lust Theory.

It's called Echoes of Lust by developer Inceton, Lust Theory by the same dev. Though I think it's the first one you are looking for

Don't know if any of these are actually obscure to any degree, but I don't come across many people talking about them.

Holstein Girls is a game inspired by, and along the same lines as, Lab Rats, just far simpler in execution, and way more streamlined in its focus. Instead of being about mind control, like Lab Rats, it's about breast expansion. The MC discreetly feeds the girls and women around him (family included) a serum that causes their busts to grow and their libidos to kick into overdrive. You choose who gets bigger, and thus who ends up a nympho addicted to the MC by the end. No real choices beyond that, because the game's not trying to be everything. It's one thing, and it knows that.

Incubus City by Wape is a good one. Rape-heavy (extremely rape-heavy), with some murder in it (no gore), but that's optional. You can go for seduction as well, or mind control, or beat the crap out of everyone you meet. The choice is up to you, and your choices with early conquests dictate the avenues you have open for later ones. It's got a ton of women, though none of them are exactly love interests. The game is more about figuring out how best to exploit every scenario you encounter to knock up the women present, then leaving before consequences catch up with you. The choices you make in a playthrough (very quick each time, less than an hour) give you different endings, and those endings give you new starting conditions that confer mechanical advantages for your future playthroughs.

My Oblivious Milf is insane and silly, with pretty frequent small updates that add roughly a thousand words each time. It's about oblivious incest with a bimbo mom. She's ditzy as they come, and stats you level through your encounters with her only make her less observant. There are no fail states or endgames, just more and more paths of oblivious and stealthy sex to unlock. It goes from you groping her beside the kitchen table and playing it off as a mistake to full-on skullfucking her beside her husband (your father) with neither realising what's going on right in front of them. It's outlandish, completely unbelievable, and that's part of what I like about it.

Lab Rats 2: Reformulate. Not a sequel to the original Lab Rats, just a standalone mod for the sequel. The second game never got as big as the first, and that's thanks to the focus on random character generation instead of focused corruption stories, along with doubling down on the stat grinding — the creator seems not to have understood what people liked about the original. Eventually he canned the project, leaving it abandoned. The mod continues where he left off, smoothing over the contentious bits and expanding it greatly. It's a pretty enormous project by now, with the core files constantly being worked on and updated on Github. Just like the first, it's about drugging the women around you through mind control serums to get them obsessed with, and subservient to, you.

Aurelia. Pixel art in a fantasy world, all of which is absolutely gorgeous. You're a commoner who's obtained magical powers out of nowhere in a world where people don't just obtain those out of nowhere. Figure things out from there, while fulfilling quests with ladies in various locales to get them interested in you. I cannot stress enough just how good the art is for this one, even with it being pixelated.

Apocalypse is great, it hits every single tag I love, but I wish there was as much character development as there was world-building. I think the dev is a great writer, but there are a bunch of characters that you meet where it's like, "Hi, I'm [name], you ready to fuck?" I would add a bit more character development and push back a lot (not all of) the sex with characters other than mom and sis until after world-building and first pregnancies are more developed.
I agree

Looking through my old games folder of games I consider keepers. Too bad Summer Camp was abandoned. The Family in Trouble is nice, as is Westview Academy, Reclaiming the Lost, The Island (Die Insel in German), and Our Island.
