Gotta be a mix. Some non-VN games are fun just for their "edgy" content or sweet content, but VNs are sometimes a bit more of a commitment, so the variety is nice.

Normally I like a mix leaning towards edgy stuff, but I'm starting to like the softer stuff more and more now. I can't explain why though, as it kinda confuses me too.

Was a genuine question but at the same time wouldn't mind the coins. Was wondering because on a certain developers discord he did a vote and it was absolutely more I'm favour of darker kinks and stories. I'm personally in the middle, like I said with the guardian I think they did a great job blending both aspects into it

Somewhere in the middle. I don't really like it when a game feels like it's being either super edgy or super saccharine just for the sake of it.

Personally, I don't think it really matters. If a VN is well written it will draw an audience who will play and support it. Plus, what one person might think is "edgy" another may think is common. Like the ol' saying, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Just write your story and see what people think and take in real honest feedback.

100% a mix, but the ones that are like an either or of "you're either the most evil sadist or the most pure angel" isn't much fun either. Like, keeping it at least lightly realistic, but having loving vs dominating/controlling options is the best.

BlondieBear games, at least, I just don't like todcon, scat and NTR (I can tolerate NTR when well written or not too much 'cuck'). And like was said before, what is dark for someone is vanilla for another one

games that are dark without any type of story are not games, just a desperate dev trying to reach a different public

Wholesome always wins. Edgy is cringe.
The guardian's highs are when it is wholesome and the lows are when it is trying to be edgy.
If you try to shock the audience you need to keep one-upping yourself which usually just ends up being bizarre.
When you try to charm the audience you always win because only a very select few genuinely cannot relate to wanting to feel good.

I can handle pretty much anything if there is a good story. I tend to lean towards the dark paths if there's a option but I don't mind the loving paths. After all it's not like it's real and I know I've seen worse depicted on many mainstream TV shows. These games just tend to have more sex in them. My hats off to anyone though who can develop a game. Takes more skill to make than I'm capable of.

I prefer an optional mix, but pure wholesome or pure "dark" is fine with me as long as they're tonally consistent.

Issue I have with a lot of "dark paths" is they feel tacked on for the sake of gaining an audience without much thought put into them. So many are tonally inconsistent and filled with out of character moments or have the characters become complete dumb-asses for the sake of a scene
