So for me, it makes no sense, as much as I really like is, I really dislike when they get a game that is clearly not incest, and make a mod for it adding especially when it's mother-son/father-daughter, you can tell how shit the conversations gets

The step crap is worse in my opinion not only because there are people that act as if a step anything is the same as someone related by blood (even talking with disgust to a relationship), but also because they lose most of the point of incest, especially when the steps-"insert relationship here" have known each other for a very small amount of time which is how it is most of the time (and my biggest problem with it), If at least they made something like parents marrying when the kids where 1, and they grew up doggeder, or the mother/father got married when the kid is a baby you can even make an argument, but noooooooooooo

It's not the same as full incest, but it doesn't anger me the way it does some people. It's still a familial relationship, even if not by blood, and it has a different kind of appeal.

At least, as long as it's clear that a step relationship is what's actually intended. Some games say "step" solely to try and duck restrictions on incest content, which is pointless because 1. most places that forbid incest know that step-incest is a workaround and ban it too and 2. patches exist.

But if someone's planning to do something about stepsiblings, go for it, I'm interested. I can like more than one thing.

I think the opposite. I believe that some games are programmed with the intention of being in this "niche" but are blocked by the platforms where they are sponsored. Sometimes the idea is so clear that we see some characters like mother and son who are very similar, and they end up in the program changing the form of their relationship so as not to be caught in the scrutiny of sponsorship platforms, so no. Creating patches for me doesn't ruin the experience.

Yeah, step-cest is fucking dog water. It's sex with a person you share nothing with apart from that you two know people who are married to each other.
I don't know of a single nation where marrying or having sex with a step relative is objectionable either culturally or legally.
Step incest is basically like having sex with a neighbor. It has no meaning.

Incest is when you're related by blood. No blood relation = no incest. Simple.

Most of the times in games you can remove the official "step", so that's what I do. However, there is something to be said for actual step-relations as it would feel different, give a different story. I would be able to immerse myself more in the story with step-relations (fewer obstacles to overcome trying to imagine it irl).
But if the story is written for real incest I want no steps in there.

I do not see the point story wise and if it's just to avoid problems with patreon you could just write a slightly different story which opens up a lot more potential for new and exciting scenes without being dragged down by stereotypes.

Story wise the MC could go around adopting kids and romancing them
