Does how close a parody character look to the original affect your enjoyment of a game?

At least 70-80% or more. If it's not anywhere near close when does it become a new character in its own right?

I think accuracy matters. If the parody character looks like something complete different is it really a resemblance for that character at that point? No of course not.

It depends on how well done the parody is. If those changes are an improvement over the original, and not just some porny change for the sake of porn, then I'm for it.

If the parody is spot on, or completely different, it can be great. Not a big fan of anything in the middle personally

As long as it is close i don't care the style it is made in. but when they drastically change the appearance then that is a problem.

The closer to the original the better but its not a deal breaker like slightly bigger tits or bigger ass. It has to be within reason though to much change to a character visually is bad and lets not get started on the characters motive and game story.

The closer the better, yeah.
I know nothing about jap culture, and I see many parody games refer to anime stories... I just don't get it with those.
But I really enjoy some parody games about HP (like Innocent Witches or Witch Trainer), rick n morty, GoT, or star wars. In those cases, when Hermione on Lust Academy is an amazing character, really hot.

I don't know many of the parodies, so I don't have such high expectations for them. If I am familiar with the parody, then I expect more similarity to the original. In any case, the game should be interesting, no matter how close it is to the original.

Just wondering what peoples thoughts are on how 'accurate' or close a parody character looks to the original animation style affects your enjoyment of a game.

I find that if the drawing style is too different from the original it takes me out of it a bit, especially if it's 2d to 2d. Like, if they've drawn Rick and Morty characters in an Anime style,.

3D to 2D I'm a bit more forgiving to - for example a hand drawn Aloy from Horizon: Zero Dawn. But I'd still prefer it to be 3D if the original is in 3D.

Thoughts?
its got to be close to the original in my opinion, otherwise you might as well just make a game with completely new characters and not a parody at all. as for ones where the medium doesn't match, 3d -> 2d is fine, I suppose, haven't really encountered it, but I cannot stand most 2d -> 3d parodies (especially if someone is using HS2 as opposed to DAZ, or god forbid Koikatsu)

I'm mostly not familiar with original characters. It do not need to be identical. It need to have that something good that make you attention. Sometimes even a perfect visual style is not enought if story is very bad.

Fidelity to the original is everything to me in a parody game. "The Loud House" games are good examples. The more faithful ones are much more enjoyable than the radically changed ones. Gwen Tennyson and Teen Titans too.

I think it does.
It doesn't have to be one for one but if it's a completely different art style and I wouldn't know it was them unless a text box with their name came up? Yeah way to far gone.

I'm fine as long as the project has a good vibe. Four elements trainer is pretty close to the original designs and is great. The lewdest house only resembles the characters (thanks god) and is also great.
If there is good work and ideas behind the game then I'm all for it.

it doesn't really bother me either way but with most parody game they either use a character that look identical to the original with either their name or a altered one that is pretty close to their original name.

parody games have always walked that line with lookalike characters and slightly tweaked names. It’s kind of part of the genre at this point, so it makes sense it wouldn’t be that surprising here either.

its better when try to be identical to the original,i dont like game wwhich have parody characters and its very different from the originals

The closer the better most of the time. Not always, sometimes it's better with a slightly sexier version.

It doesn't have to be perfectly identical, but if the characters look and act wildly different from the originals, then what is even the point? A parody only works if the elements being parodied are recognizable.
