Does anyone usually skip parts of visual novels? If so, what parts?

I tend to skip heavy dialog that doesn't seem to add much to the overall story.
replaying games to evaluate other paths/choices provides more skippable portions

VN's where people just small talk all the time and there's obviously nothing relevant going on

Dream sequences that spoil how an LI is going to look ahead of time. Those scenes just ruin anticipation for me instead of increasing it as some authors seem to think

I quite often skip. Too much repetitive dialogue. Gets boring after a while

I skip parts where there is too much dialogue or if I am not interested in whoever the MC is interacting with

If the writing grabs me I won't skip anything. It doesn't have to be Dickens-tier prose, it just has to flow naturally and keep me interested. Particularly when the dialogue is too predictable, I'll find my patience wearing thin enough that I might breeze past some text to get to the scene I know is coming up.

Usually the how to play .. come on we been doing this for few years now. We know how it works

I always skip the sex scenes, can't stand those man. No clue why developers keep putting them in.

Bland boring exposition that goes on for far too long. Frozen Memories comes to mind. Also if the VN has an unintelligible translation, although tbh if the engrish is bad enough I'll probably drop it.

In other words; I skip the blah blah to go for the hoo-hah

for me it depends if the game is worth reading, usually i don't skip, when i do it's already a sign that i should uninstall the game

Flashbacks, especially childhood flashbacks. Unless I'm particularly invested in the story, I don't really care about events that have happened that I likely had no say in.

Usually when they keep beating around the bush and when the entire conversation feels like filler

Usually just end up skipping at random intervals. Skips some speeches, read a bit than skip again for a while, rinse and repeat.
Suprisingly, it is very rare thats it feels as if I missed something important.

Depending on the game itself, there are games where if you don’t read, you don’t understand what you had to do and you start clicking everywhere, there are games with an interesting plot and you read so as not to do anything bad to the character you like, and there are games where there is nothing interesting except erotic content

If the story gets dry, or starts to drag on needlessly just to try to extend things, I'll start skipping.

I will skip the beginning if I'm not convinced the game is good. If nothing then really goes on or you get a boring plot, I will just delete the game and move on. If it looks good I will start over.
