Does anyone ever check render count for a release?

I use to never check render count till I got biffed by a small update and wondered if that was really the whole thing. Now like everyone else I do check the amount to expect how long the update is gonna be. I also use to look at the size of the game to gauge length but that also proved to be a bad measurement.

Yes, I do check it as it gives me an idea of how long the game time might be and if it was worth me downloading and playing this update

I never check. If anything, I just read replies and go from there to see if the update is worth it in my opinion.

I'll generally check the comments to know if an update is worth it as well as the render count if I really care. Otherwise I've got plenty of storage space so file-size is less of an issue for me.

Nah, I check for "added 5 (add prefered character here) scenes" type of changes. Renders can be exploited to make you think you're getting more, but it could also change render on every line or two, making the numbers add up quick.

I always check the changelog to see how much content has been added. Most times rendercount will determine if i try the update or not.

I check. Like others have said, it gives an idea of length of gameplay. Once you know the creator and how the previous updates were with render count you feel you would know how much time is going to be in the new update

As i say: It only tastes good when it has been marinated for a good while

I don't, because usually these numbers are just given as a metric to satisfy supportergoals and don't have to be related at all to the quality.

I always check the render count so that i know if it's worth downloading the update or i'll have to wait

I would rather there's a way to check word count

Not really. But then, I generally either read the developer notes about the update or know their general rhythm, so I more or less know what to expect. Render count is also a terrible metric, since some devs render very diverse scenes while others riff on very similar scenes.

I don't really bother as it's a mostly meaningless count. Are they rendering anything I care to see? It can give a minor estimation of length, especially if you look at past updates and mostly remember how you felt. Anymore I just wait for a couple releases at least

Sometimes I do sometimes I don't because it depends of the game itself :)

I do because I don't want to bother if its four minutes of gameplay

Like to check it for same reason others have already mentioned - how much new game play is there.
