Do you prefer games with multiple choices that affect the story or a linear story where choices don't affect anything?

Sometimes it's nice to play games just to "play", but honestly I like games where I can choose paths, but I don't like games that have mini games.
I like it with choices and paths. "Parental Love" has 5 different endings but no matter how many times I replay it, I can never discover more than 3.

multiple choices, but not for 10+ paths
some QTE and minigames are ok too

Choices that matter, but also make sense.
I hate it when choices are something random like:
-"Are you a supporter of Absurdism or Hylozoism?"

Asked by an "18" years old girl that's still going to school (not even high school) and one of them is the wrong answer.

Choices should matter, if they don't, no point in having them in the first place.
But should not be "to hard", so it's to easy to select wrong, so you loose lewd scenes or close paths...

I also hate when it has a character talk long about something and then you're supposed to remember stuff about it. How the fuck am I supposed to remember and also:

Games without choices aren't even games by definition, they're kinetic novels, as you don't do anything but read, as an outsider without any influence on what's happening.
I get how many branches might overcomplicate a game in some cases, but I would never even bother with a kinetic novel, as well made as some may be, I need the involvement of having choices leading to consequential results to even care about a game and its characters. Making a decision versus seeing the exact same thing happening without a decision, makes an extreme difference to me.

Games with minimal branches so as not to diversify the content so much that i have to wait for years to get my content.

multiple choices, but not more than 3. Too many kills the game

Better devs don't only work on one path at a time.

I dont like it where choices affects the lewd scenes, otherwise they are welcome.

I love games with choices that will slightly alter the story and outcome.

I'm definitely team (meaningful) choices. If your "game" doesn't ever change and is just a fixed linear progression of events, why even go through the trouble of making it into a pretend-game, when you could just release an illustrated storybook instead? Then you also don't have people complain it's not available for their device/OS.

Not a fan of linear/kinetic games tbh, but I absolutely have these games with "multiple choices" that dont matter, at all.
The Telltales of +18 games

I like choices, but I don't like excessive mutually exclusive content. It's a weird spot to be. I just can't play kinetic novels.

If you do that people call it a kinetic novel

I prefer more linear games, I'd rather see all the available content and not have something locked behind a choice
