VN for sure. A lot of sandbox games have a hard time actually being sandbox. Most of the time it just feels tedious instead. If there was a lot more choices that mattered I can see sandbox being fun.

For example, I like the way "Desert Stalker" is done from a sandbox view. It balances scenes and gameplay. Choices matter and you can decide the order to do things. (Top tier VN/Sandbox in general)

I can't remember which one I played before but there were many where they gave you too many nothing burgers. Like why am I doing all this extra work? What is the reward?

Wow.. I just understand..
If anyone click "like" my reply, that I also can get the LC..
Therefore I can do many "like" for everyone to help them get LC.. ha..

VNs. Sometimes in sandboxes progress is hidden behind some random stat or time of day. I think it can be done well but it rarely happens.

yup but liking also has a cooldown

Sandboxes are really fun if done well and not a grind for me. It would have to have a lot of content though.

VN's for sure

sandboxes are tough as many are not well outlined so its tough to know where to go to trigger required scenes. its also very easy to feel very empty

if they get it right then they can be great but if they get it even "average" they end up so much worse than an average VN

VN!!!

99.9% of sandbox's are 'where do i go next to progress with the vn part of the game'

I would take almost anything before sandbox. Even a sidescroller is more engaging than a sandbox wasteland.

VN but not because is objectively better than sandbox. The problem is that sandbox is normally used in a way that makes you grind a lot to get to new content, if it were done better I wouldn't mind it.
One I believe does it well is corruption by Mr.C

A well-done sandbox game beats a well-done VN. Sadly there aren't many well-done sandbox games

VN, some sandbox are okay, but if I had to choose I'd always go with VN.
