Do You Like Sandbox Elements in Visual Novels?

No, it almost never contributes anything to the game.
 
VN's are closer to porn than to a porn game so I don't think there's much point to add sandbox elements
 
To often i find myself getting interested in VNs that have all the polish one could expect from a random dev on the internet. Great renders, gripping synopsis of a story, CILFs (Characters I'd like to funk), but then i come across that single tag..."sandbox." Now the gamer in me correlates that immediately to some big open playground where I could come across and do anything my little heart desires, but the truth of the matter I find its used just to make the game feel more bloated. Like there is more than there actually is, and with that, added grind. So what do you all think? Should VNs every be sandbox? Has any actually pulled it off?

I don't like wasting time on clicking rooms or locations for chance of a scene to appear or searching for items.
Part of the reason why I play NSFW games is the overall storytelling. Not a deep desire to "play" a game.
 
there are some "sandbox" that I like, the one that comes to my mind is Harem Hotel. But the experience is way better with the playtrhought mod. What I mean is that the best experience for me with a sandbox was when I had a tool to mitigate it. In general, sandbox turns out bothersome e tiring later in the game, thats what happened to me playing a house in the rift.
 
I don't mind sandbox games as long as they are not extremely grindy. Hints help in a big way.

don't mind some sandbox games but as a rule i'd say NO (n)
 
I avoid most of the sandbox games out there. I stopped playing a lot of games because of the sandbox system.
 
I prefer sandbox games over reading the lazy haters of it...

I kinda enjoy it as long as it doesn’t make you wait too long or repeat certain events several times
 
Sandbox is good if built properly. Not easy to pull off though. Tread a fineline with being a bit grindy or it can make the player feel lost is there is no direction on what to do.
 
Being honest, as some other guys has already pointed out, it is enjoyable if the dev finds a good balance between the grind and the subsequent reward. A good example, at least in my opinion, is The treasure of Nadia.

However, in the end it all comes to the one that plays the games, as either they want a quick fap, or want something more than pure sex and no history.
 
Too many (as in most) make it instead of a true sandbox (open world), that bullshit where you have one correct location you have to find to be able to advance the story (or even worse, it's a game with time/day and has to be at a certain time/day.) That sort would be much better as just moving the story along without the sandbox element.
 
I like actual gameplay in general in my porn games. Survival, action, adventure. I like to feel accomplished when I pork my girl. Give me a fantasy RPG where I slay a dragon, save the girl and then fill her holes in every possible way. It's all the better when there's good writing on top of it and you get some attachment to the girl. I want to see more games like that.
 
If your going to make a sandbox, it may be best to start without the boxes till you get all the parts to not make it feel empty.
