i wanna say yes but ... some devs do an excellent job. i hate the walking the map etc.
I hate (well, don't play - my hatred is reserved for things that matter) them for the opposite reason - I don't mind wandering a map, but JRPG-style turn-based combat bores the shit out of me. They perfected the art of tediously turning numbers turn into smaller numbers.

4. Not user friendly - cause there is no skip like renpy holding ctrl button
A lot of them let you skip, either with a (not always mentioned) extra button or by holding 'cancel' (usually X by default). However, they exceedingly rarely have a message history, so if you skip past something you actually want to read after all, you're kind of screwed.

It's the worst engine for adult games. HTML is a close 2nd.

I don't hate them, but it seems like the engine has to be worked around more than it has to be worked with.
So much wandering the map makes a bad game so much worse than it would otherwise be.

rpgm game feel awful to play. usually the cg gallery and story tend to be pretty alright tho

And that wandering shit can turn a potentially good game bad.

Its one of my most avoided engines, but its not worth my hate, its just irrelevant.

I honestly have no idea why any dev would choose it given how unliked it is. I thought maybe it was especially easy to use but was told it's not. Those maps make it worse than even standard sandbox.

They are okay, and the assets are easy to extract allowing you to skip the gameplay and get the content.

They could never make me hate RPGM's those were where most of the classic porn games were made on

Is not that i hate it... but is not my favourite engine, i prefer Ren'py or HTML games.

I don't hate them per se, but it does feel like there's a really steep Sturgeon's Law ratio there. I think it's just way too many areas for a dev to screw up.

Take all the stuff that too many Renpy VN devs haven't figured out ("your story should make sense", "get an editor", "make your dialogue short enough that I don't have to click 1000 times per conversation"), add all the things that too many Renpy sandbox devs haven't figured out ("spending 1 minute just to move between locations where pieces of story happen is miserable", "if they can't figure out what to do next using ingame sources most players aren't having fun"), and add in a bunch of things totally unique to RPGM that most devs haven't figured out are just obnoxious. Like huge maps filled with nothing interesting that the player has to traverse multiple times to do anything at all. Or combat with no mechanics that are actually interesting, where you're just hitting "Attack" 3-5 times a round. Or long rooms filled with dozens of enemies that are tedious to fight and skitter around the overworld at lightspeed so they're impossible to avoid. The average dev just doesn't put nearly enough forethought into getting an RPGM game right, so I tend to get frustrated with even the ones I like (used to enjoy Gates: The Opening way back when; good stuff in there but severe example of "huge totally empty maps you have to cross over and over and over again").

Hate is a strong word. And I think this negative opinion is just from the large number of low-quality, low-effort, copy-paste, asset flipping entries out there. However, with enough effort an RPGM game can really be engaging. One of the earliest games that I personally played and loved and what ultimately got me into the indie adult game scene was the Legend of Queen Opalla. And some of my current favorite games are on the RPGM.

This may be a personal opinion but I'm the kinda person who actually like engaging gameplay over straight up porn. I like it when I have to work a little bit for, and that there's also a bit of story context for the porn I'm after.

I don't hate them, I just find roaming annoying and rpgm games tend to have that

rpgm, renpy, any engine: a good game is a good game. its all about quality

Well, i love free roaming, but not with the rpgm pixel art on 2D maps, there its just boring

Is there an RPGmaker game WITHOUT roaming? I hate it, too. Don't like free roams in non-RPGM games - they should always be skippable.

I don't like them, but still some of them are pretty good, so I have to play them

rpgm sucks when i have to grind a lot in the game, otherwise it'd have been nice
