If you want it now, just give Seath 2$ on substar and play it early. I can wholeheartedly recommend it. The new chapter is fucking awesome.

Very, very, very, very long time.
Take in mind. Next in line are PA final chapter, RoWP and Blackheart Hotel remake is being made. If I remember correctly over time Seath has grown to dislike the original so he's decided to remaster it.
THEN Lost Guardian and then DD. Each of them likely having 2-3 month development cycle. So yeah...
Dire Desires won't be updated for quite a while after it's been released.

And fully agreed, give seath couple of bucks. Man works so hard to provide and he's been always so consistent.
Also DD has some elements to it that are extremely, EXTREMELY hard to find in VNs.

Dev has like 5 or so games he updates cyclically. It'll take a while
