if something exists even partially it can in fact be ruined.. and while they are not the same thing they are also not mutually exclusive. While what he said is a bit of hyperbole, he isn't far off with the credit card companies and game platforms cracking down on adult games. So not sure what your point is?

If a work isn’t complete, but what has been done so far is good, it can’t be ruined just because it’s not continued. At worst, it remains unfinished; it only becomes “ruined” when further development actually lowers its quality.

To be fair... a town that is abandoned by it's inhabitants becomes a ruin after several years or centuries of being uninhabited so games becoming ruined after being abandoned does make a little sense

A video game does not deteriorate over time, except for issues related to the storage system. Therefore, if a video game is no longer being developed, it cannot degrade on its own.

The dev has been silent for a loooong time(over a year). They pop into their discord every once in a while but don't say anything nor reply to dm's. So it isn't a stretch to say both this and Malignant are abandoned.
