definitely depth - there's way too many games that just keep introducing new characters, and that's fine, but not every single one needs to be a storyline - all too often you have only one or two scenes and then with such a huge roster that has to cycle through them - beyond it just not making sense in the sense that you can't really have enough time for 10+ people etc. 2-4 core LIs with deep stories are the best imo, with others in supportive roles either as enablers, emotional positivity, reinforcement, etc, is way better than 25 shallow ones
Whether breadth or depth is preferred in a story structure depends on the player’s tastes and what they’re looking for in a narrative.
Both structures have their strengths, but if you prefer a more expansive world with a lot to discover, you might lean toward breadth. If you enjoy deep, character-driven stories, depth might be more appealing. It often comes down to whether you prefer the journey through a large, varied world or the deep exploration of a few key characters and events.
I'm more into variety and exploring interactions with many different characters so I get to see a wide range of personalities, scenarios, and outcomes.
I also understand that depth allows for more detailed exploration of their personalities, motivations, backstories, etc. It’s a slower game but it can create a stronger emotional connection with the characters.
Some games have really great characters, both models and personality/story. I find mysekf not wanting to choose between any of them.
Other times, I want to stick to a specific character, sometimes because of the story, that characters route is just better. Occasionally because I want the MC to remain "loyal" to a specific love interest.
Depth. Having 100 characters in the cast means none of them gets proper development. Having a smaller cast allows deeper immersion in their personality and content. Same goes for fetishes: if you have a game that promises to cover every fetish in existence, you can bet your ass you are getting maximum 1 scene (if any) and that's all.
depth. theres really no point in having a huge amount of girls since i can just play any other game and experience the same. if i play a game i want the main focus to be on the specific girl i got the game for
