I knew Brandon Sanderson had a new stormlight book coming out but didnt realise it was already out!

Just finished reading the Blade Itself by Joe Abercrombie. Great first book for those who want to try a bit of grim dark fantasy.

not a book but compelling reading material nonetheless, The web serial Worm
I will state that the original webserial Worm is a good read for a lot people, it also has some major flaws. The most prominant one that alway hits me is the general lack of any responsible oversight into basic causes of the story. I am sorry, but no matter how bad a city / police / school situation is, it should not result in a "prank" that could qualify either a biohazard or murder attempt without any reprecussions.

That complaint aside, the story is decent, but I freely admit that I've come to really fall in love with the fanfiction surrounding the original far more than the actual story itself.

Any Alternative History books by Harry Turtledove - note some of the better are series, and the best are 5-10 novels long. Not short novels, either.
I will always have a soft spot for Turtledove, his Guns of the South was my introduction to Alt History fiction and while I've mostly moved on from his work for other reasons, I will always recommend him to anyone who is interested in Alt History.

I consider that one more time travel, though from the point of view of those travelled to.

I can see your point. I've always thought of the story as ultimately creating a new timeline rather than just a straight time travel book, but for most of the book....I can definately see where you are coming from.

On Literotica, there's a story called Father of the Bride, a 3 part series by EVHayes720. Quite enjoyed it.
Lots of incest, public sex, exhibitionism.

Chinese Xuanhuan novel "Tales of Herding Gods" (牧神记)

I just finished Wind and Truth when I saw Emberdark was out. I guess Brando the Sando almost writes faster than I can read.

[Fantasy]
The Drenai Series - David Gemmel
This was good. And thanks for reminding me that I gotta read couple of the latest in series. Legend is one of my favourite fantasy books.
The Dresden Files - Jim Butcher - Urban Fantasy
Benedict Jacka's Alex Verus series (12 books) is quite similar and even better imho. Main character is diviner (good with close combat as he sees what others are about to do). Plenty of action and adventure. Some power politics between dark / light mages, but don't let that scare as it drives plot forward. Fantasy elements like people tossing fireballs and other magics, djinns, magical items, extra dimensions, arachid friend and so on.
Mercy Thompson - Patricia Briggs - Urban Fantasy
Only one in your list I've never heard of. Gotta check it.

I have read the first 2 books of The Alex Verus series and his other book called An Inheritance of Magic

I've enjoyed Ghost in the city, and pokemon trainer vicky both are fanfics that can be found on Royalroad

I've ordered the new Witcher book. Expecting it within the week but for now can recommend everything else in the series. Especially, the first one which was all about the ministories. Hear the same author has another series going, different setting but can't speak about its quality - haven't read those.

The Lions of Al-Rassan if you're into historical fantasy, it's not mind-blowing or anything but the setting is interesting and the plot is well crafted.

Let me recommend some short novel by Japanese author Takiji Kobayashi.

his famous work: Kani Kosen, aka The Crab Cannery Ship, and;
the more to my liking: Life of a Party Member

When it comes to science fiction, I don't see anyone who could even come close to the level set by Stanislaw Lem. His novels, such as Eden (1958), Solaris (1961), The Invincible (1963), His Master's Voice (1968) and Fiasco (1986) . His novels remain the gold standard of science fiction for me; in terms of intellectual content, they are simply unmatched, although Lem himself spoke admiringly of the Strugatsky brothers' "Roadside Picnic" (1971).
Among English-language authors, I would highlight Gene Wolfe, Roger Zelazny, and Ursula K. Le Guin (except for her later works).
Speaking about fiction in general, I can name Anton Chekhov and Vladimir Nabokov, Kurt Vonnegut, and, with reservations, some of Ray Bradbury's works.
