For me written text was how I got introduced to porn/adult content. It wasn't until much later that games started being more common. To this day I still like stories even though there is no visual component. Does anyone else read and what are your favorite genres/stories?

Nah, I even hate kinetic novels.

I discovered erotic literature sites sooner that adult games ones. I liked it, but I spent like only one week there. I found reading it very tiring and cumbersome to do while jacking off.
But I think there is way more variety on sex stories, that's the one thing that had me hooked on that week. Hahaha

Yeah, if the writings good I do. Renpet has written a bunch of really good longish sm0l erotica stories. Published on Lolliwood to begin with I think, but can be found around the web here and there. I know that there is an old sitedump of Lolliwood over at the A-T-F site though....

They can be good as they'll go places where VNs won't. Some jurisdictions have strict rules about depicting certain acts visually, but written works are given a pass. One problem though is that some "stories" end up having 87 parts and counting. Wow, just come up with new characters already.

Erotic literature (Ovidius, Georges Bataille, Pierre Louis, John Wilmot, Henry Miller, etc.) is not intended for jerking off. As for pornographic stories, they are usually very primitive, resembling ordinary kinetic short stories, but without pictures.

Absolutely love them if they're done well.
I like all kinds of different media, and they all do something paticularly well.

For stories, that's creating an actual connection to characters.
In most videos, animations, games & comics/manga, you have very little character-connection. They're just stand-ins.
But in stories, there are often elaborate & dense emotional currents that just pull you along. Sometimes it's heartwarming relationships that just give emotional depth to the sex, make it a meaningful expression of their connection. Sometimes it's taboo or fetish themes that go deeper than some superficial "here's something taboo, now it's happening, now it's over!". Things are built up, tension grows, until everything drives towards the climax.

I actually prefer stories with a slow burn, that really build a world you can sink into, where characters have more to do than just have sex. It's like a gourmet meal compared to fast food. Not just a three bite affair, but something you can take your time and relish.

I like a good story, but it's hard to find good sites for them. Use to use ASSTR but it looks like they're permanently defunct. Or at least defunct for way longer than their last really long period of defunctitude.

What other books, movies, shows, games, media, etc., are you into?

Anything by Michael Crichton really if you want thrillers. Boomer answer is Tom Clancy if you like military stuff. If you like alt history island in the sea of time and its sequels are entertaining. Harry Turtledove's worldwar series was neat; aliens invading during WW2. The Conrad stargard books were fun reads if I recall, but I read them ages ago and they were annoying to get

I love Turtledove's worldwar series, also his epic great war/american empire/settling accounts mega-series.
If you're ok with webserials, then He Who Fights With Monsters is good, as is The Wandering Inn

What kind of stuff are you into in general, OP?

If you're interested in fantasy anything by Brandon Sanderson. The best starting point is probably the first Mistborn trilogy.

something light maybe? the bobiverse trilogy?

not a book but compelling reading material nonetheless, The web serial Worm

Without knowing what you like in general our recommendations will just be shots in the dark.

If you like secret societies, conspiracies and following clues: Dan Brown's sersies with Robert Langdon as MC:
  1. Angels & Demons
  2. The Da Vinci Code
  3. The Lost Symbol
  4. Inferno
  5. Origin
The first 2 are the best, the next 2 less so and I'm not a fan of the last one.

If you like medieval fantasy: A Song of Ice and Fire (series).
Though it has been 10+ years since the last book and there's still 2 to come out, I loved the first 2. Now I'm waiting for it to be finished so I can buy the whole set.

That's all I can think of right now 😊

Why not start with Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings"? The book is an order of magnitude better than the movie, believe me.
