Reading your comments it seems to me that quite late I started anything. I first drank alcohol when I was 16-17, started smoking cigarettes when I was 18. Weed when I was 19. I drink alcohol occasionally and switched from cigarettes to vape. Let's leave aside the fact that I've been taking antidepressants since I was 16.... But at least I got to the moment where talking to others stopped being scary.

My parents let me try some beer when I was like 10 or 11. Took one sip and almost spit it out, lol. I think that was their strategy because looking back it was probably some shitty ultra-cheap brand and it put me off drinking until I was legal age. Once I turned 21 I discovered craft beer and drink socially about once or twice a month. I've only gotten drunk twice and don't like the feeling.

I didn't try drugs until I was in my 30s. I take 1 cannabis edible a week to help with anxiety and a sleep disorder and I'll occasionally smoke socially, though I find smoking horribly unpleasant. I've never done harder drugs.

Oh, and caffeine. I was addicted to caffeine since I was 13 or so. I went off it during the Covid lockdowns. Withdrawl kicked my ass for two weeks straight; I had a week-long migraine, constant dry mouth and cracking lips, brain fog, it was miserable. Why that shit is legal for children I'll never understand.

Really dude. Even a joint? It makes food better, sex better, movies better, music better, socializing better. You can't get addicted so you aren't a slave to it. Due to the insanely large amount of people that do it, I'd hardly call them ALL boring and inferior

If we are going on the sense of what the question intends, essentially not medication. I tried pot once back in 9th grade, didn't feel anything from it, so never really did it again, and alcohol was sometime in high school. Never any other drugs nor cigarettes/cigars.

First drug was wine as well, was something like 6 or 7.
Then I started smoking first cigarettes at 15, then pot at 16.
Also started doing a shitload of different drugs at 19 and that was the beginning of an hell of ride lmao.

I'm now 31, drink very occasionally, only vape, and the last time I smoked weed was 10 years ago.

But I've got a bit of an amphetamines (speed, not meth) addiction, but I manage.

Diddnt even know alcohol was considered a drug. was certain the question refered to stimulants like weed and coke. U live u learn guess most of us did drugs as children then xd

The article, though being a disorganized mess, is still interesting information-wise.

Countries tend to class put it in a different category as other psychoactive drugs for legal and -above all, imo- economic reasons. That way it can be regulated and, more importantly, taxed
And from there one could make this simple but interesting remark : isn't it interesting that a lot of governments are willing to fight tooth and nails to keep alcohol legal, but act as witch-burning fanatics toward cannabis, who is, in all aspects, way less dangerous and harmful?

Think that I had my first sip of alcohol before I was 10, and around the age of 16 started smoking weed, damn that hit different back then.
