I go to public theaters that screens old movies and cultural associations that have indie films.
Don't have that around here. Even a regular movie theater is rather far. Between that and the cost is why I haven't gone.

My local theater has terrible seats/screens and mostly plays family friendly movies. Have to drive 2 hours to get to a better one and the tickets there are like 16 bucks so I rarely go the the movies anymore.

It's not just movies at the theatre that are dead, but movies in general. Sadly, it's a dead or dying art. Sure, there'll be the odd good one every now and then, but for the most part it's gonna continue to be wall-to-wall shite. Way too much pollution in the process now for anything decent to emerge on a regular basis, worrying about which special interest group you're going to offend and so on. One of my favourite hobbies is watching movies from the 90s and 00s where the popular opinion is that they were crap, and 90% of the time finding that they are better than anything I've watched in the last 15 years.

To be honest, I go to the movies much less often. But every now and then there's a movie that's only worth seeing on the big screen. A small movie theater here also shows old movies from time to time - something like Jurassic Park or Alien. That's also fun to experience again in "big" form.

When I went to "The Return of the King" for the third time, the audience consisted almost exclusively of people who already knew the movie. It was a really fascinating and fun experience. :D
Movies should be seen alone anyways

I'd say movies in general are kind of lame this days. Or maybe i'm becoming old.

Yes, movies are getting too expensive
Getting? They've been too expensive since the late 1980s, especially if you count the ridiculous prices at the concession stand - and the policies against bringing outside food.

Sorry

Sorry sir, I wasn't born yet. ^:

I prefer to wait until it's streaming, I've been to the theater once in the last 10 years.

The only movies I go watch in the theater. Are the big budget action movies. Just so I can feel those speakers

Yes. The movies each year seem to be getting worse and worse. And it's too damn expensive. It's probably been 10 years since I saw a movie in the theater.

Too loud for me even on the computer.

My local theater has decent food options, reclining seats, high quality screens, and is kept clean. But it's never all that busy, even during matinee showings (which are surprisingly cheap)

With all the streaming services the theaters are in decay... i believe that most of the people only goes to a theater when the movie has good visual efects, like Dune part 2, i've watched it two times at my closest theater.

TBH streaming services are too expensive, too - but there's always the high seas.

I hate how an increasing percentage of movies are now connected to some already-existing ip.
