I am fairly certain I saw that the Summer Hollywood Box Office is set to have the worst summer ever.
I'm not a good predictor, but I think this is going to start being a trend at the box office, but not the total studio take. I don't know how the studios count rentals and streamings, and they probably use the good old Hollywood accounting to make every movie look like it loses money, but I think the new tech is going to transform the movie experience.

The new Apple headset with a huge screen and earbuds will make most movies better than the theater for a lot of people. Going to the cinema for a big screen and big sound can now be replaced on an individual basis with the fantastic graphics of the headset. This won't replace the family type experiences, but for a lot of people going to the cinema solo will definitely enjoy the movie experience without the bothersome audience, unless the movie is the type to be enhanced by an audience factor, of which I feel there are very very few.

But sitting down for a group movie might still need the cinema experience.

until what is called the "atmosphere" dies, cinemas will not die either

Movies nowadays not only are shit, but it's also that streaming services are just soo convenient. There's no reason to go to the theater anymore (except the experience I guess)

I see the spectacular ones at the cinema, the rest will be on stream

I would say to be honest, It's just not worth it.

Kinda hard to go to the theaters when you're broke and everything's crap.

I want to say not yet, but it is certainly moving in that direction. Too costly for the average Joe and goes to a streaming service almost right away. Plus there are rarely any good movies out that are worth going to a theater to watch.

I still go to the movie theatre on average 3 times a month, I just love the experience.
I hope they're just in a lull period because the shit economic situation has people sticking to cheaper options.

3 times? I can't image going that often.

Used to be four or five time a month, but cinema releases have dropped off and the rare good original movies on streaming can only be watched at home.
Everyone's got something they do to chill out though. I have a friend that's into cars - he'll work on them then go out for drives, just by himself as far as he feels like going. I don't know how many hours he spends behind the wheel each week but the number is probably a world away from my own.

You can sail the high seas instead of signing up for services, like everyone else...
Isn't it the only option to watch movies? lololol
Haven't been there for ages.. but to be honest, most movies suck now anyways.
That's why we appreciate H games from Japan! Men of culture, indeed
last movie i went out to watch and enjoyed was Boy Kills World which felt like watching something from the 90s, early 2000 and was a blast. I find myself watching less from the main studios these day as they all feel like the're not even trying anymore to entertain.
The least I may watch it's a random film from 80s or maybe 90s, classic aged like fine wine

the ratio of Good to bad movies is probably 20:80 and you can't trust reviewers because of the culture wars going on so i'm less inclines to watch a movie unless i'm really interested in the premise/plot

I havent been in many years, i dont see the appeal. Its usually too loud and its not fun being around such a crowd

a ticket used to cost me 9$, with say popcorn or whatever it would at most cost me 13$, now a ticket alone costs 18$. So i started to go less and less.

Yeah, I hate crowds, too.

Tbf. Almost all movies that come out not are badly written. Aaaaaand the over saturation of superhero movies

What do they cost in the US now? I haven't been to one in 30 years and my mom paid then.

i also think the pandemic lockdown had a big impact and its not been the same since. Atleast movies are consitantly being released. But it doesnt help when they get on streaming services shortly after
