I had to pee twice during Oppenheimer. Nice have the pause feature and a bathroom that doesn't take 10 minutes to get in and out of.
And be able to have beer, not have some 8' tall person sit in front of you (I'm 5'3" - doesn't matter how angled it is, unless you want to risk falling,) no extreme overpriced snacks ALONG with overpriced tickets, etc.

Or someone removing his shoes and socks in the seat next to you to let his feet breath, while you choke 🤷🏾‍♀️

I still gonna sit through any torture for a Tarantino movie, past, present or (if he wills it) future

It do be like that. Ever since the pandemic I have felt less and less inclination to ever share space with that many people again. Especially if I have to pay an arm for the ticket and a leg for fuckin junior mints

Here is the thing... I love movies, still, even many that come out today... BUT there are a few reasons I don't go to the theater anymore (well, almost never)

Let's start with snacks and drinks, I can have that much better at home, plus my couch is much more comfortable and a 65inch TV with surround system is not really worse then a cinema in the first place, especially since I have no one potentially sitting in the way or making noise... so, I can have a much better, more comfortable movie experience at home, toilet pause whenever I want, MUCH less cost, especially for several people (tho tbf, that may be balanced out by the cost for the TV and sound system... but I can use that for all stuff, shows, youtube, gaming, whatever)... and I mean, cinemas get the movie first, sure... but it's not like back in the day when you had to wait like 1.5 years or something and then hit the right time when it was once shown on tv with hundreds of ads, nowadays its mostly a few weeks to some odd months at modst... and all that doesn't even include that I watch movies in the original language (and if necessary with subtitles if it is one I dont speak), but every movie theater in my vincinity releases them dubbed in my countries language... so I have to drive 2 hours into the next million+ people city to get to a cinemy that shows the original version...

Damn, I have not been to a movie theater in a decade or so... And not in a hurry to change that.

I still watch movies in theatres. Watching movies is my favourite hobby ☺️. I love stories ❤️

Only real problem is the fuckwads with loud engines on their vehicles driving by. Loud engines should be illegal.

Have not been to the theatre since the pandemic. Usually just wait for the bluray release and watch from home.

Movies on a big cinema screen? Yes, I like this. But people in cinemas often suck: talking and other noises or smelly persons next to me (I had once a woman in front of me, who smells like fish... seriously, I hope, she just working as a fish seller and just forgot to shower...). So I prefer watching movies at home or I go to morning shows, where mostly only a few people are in.

Depending on the movie, but then as it is for me I dont have time or money to go to the movies anymore

How much does it even cost now? Not even counting the extreme overpriced snacks/sodas. When it was like $8 for a ticket that was when it became too much.

421 / 5.000

Yes, 15 years ago I went to the cinema once a week with a friend, there were good things to see and the price allowed it, gradually we went less until we stopped going, today not only is it more expensive but the political propaganda and Pervasive mediocrity makes it almost impossible to find something worthwhile to see. I only go between 1 and 3 times a year more or less, the last one I saw was Dune Part 2 and I loved it.

I am fairly certain I saw that the Summer Hollywood Box Office is set to have the worst summer ever.

i missed the actual bomb scene because of this. was really bummed about that.
i usually still go to the theater if it's something i'm really interested in though.

The theater experience 100% dead to me. Too man negatives and only 2 positives. Screen size and Sound. I also hate how people act in public so I will stay away.

On the one hand we have to think about the possibility that cinema is not dead as such, but that times have changed and so has the target audience. As much as I hate to think about it, we have to remember how our parents and grandparents had different tastes than ours and did not enjoy the movies that we liked or at least not all of them.

On the other hand, you could point to the advancement of technology as part of the problem of lack of good movies, since many of them focus on graphics and little else, before people did not have that much technology to make a good spaceship so it was time to Add more quality to the script and original ideas to differentiate yourself from the competition.

Another thing - this is a problem at home, too - they make sound effects and music WAY too loud and the dialogue not loud enough. So at home either you can't understand the dialogue or everyone within like 200 feet can hear the explosions, doors closing, music, etc.

I still go sometimes with my friend, if the movie is really good

A good stereo system with an equalizer will allow tuning the sound to exactly how it is meant to be. Even my computer video player has an equalizer I set for the proper sound levels for everything to be enjoyable. I watch a lot of movies and find the cost of the home theater to be well below that of paying the Hollywood price tag.
