As to the fallout games I got 4 as it's supposed to be the easiest - I can barely get out of the HOUSE. The controls are so wonky I keep walking into walls and get killed at best right after where the 2 soldiers are guarding. AI said to turn the sensitivity way down but another thing is I'm not used to FPS games at all. I gave up on them more than a decade ago as all were WAY too difficult.

I totally get that. I'd say lower the sensitivity until the game gives you some freedom, and then adjust it to whatever feels most comfortable for you.

I would argue "can't get killed without trying", at the very least have some minor danger for tension/telling the player what's dangerous
