I'm still really shy since this is my first time interacting with a site like this so idk if I'll join but I'll definitely consider it! thank you for the invitation!!
Its ok. We don't pressure here. But if you are curious about what's on the menu on a night you can always dm me and see if your tempted haha

Man ì realy wanna post some pirate shit but I'd dox myself lol
Yeah - I have a pretty good pirate impression I came up with several years ago, but I'm one of the mates, not the captain. Everyone always goes for the captain - more leeway and more fun doing other characters for me.

No balls send it on the discord

Nice.

I started the first one when they announced the date for Silksong. I have only been able to put about 12 hours in. It feels fun when I do find time for it.

I play for a bit, hit a hard point, die, fail to recover, stop playing. With how punishing the OG is and what I have heard about Silksong, I think I might end up rage quitting after a few hours.

I think maybe I am just bad at video games.
Don't give up keep chipping away at the game your skills will improve! 🫡 Yeah Silksong is absolutely brutal, but I've been loving my time with it.

Seeing as it's pirate day, do we consider vikings pirates, they are not far off in the way they earned money but with very difforent rules

i'd say vikings are pirate adjacent enough to be considered pirates for pirate day

"Viking" is an activity carried out by Norsemen and wasn't typically carried out at sea - the sea and rivers were simply their paths to the places they looted. Piracy would sometimes take the form of attacking a land base, but it was mostly done at sea. Viking was also a means of expanding territory, while piracy was not. So, no: not the same. And Norsemen didn't have horns on their helms, dammit. ;)

Ohhhh might be better to ask @conzibald or @Slumdum or one of the other nordic types here, but as far as I know questions like this deserve a pitcher of beer and a tavern to drink it in ..................................

"Viking" was not a full-time 'job'; the people who went off on those trips were generally farmers like everyone else. In that sense it was "something you did and not who you were" but that does not make the word a verb. Soooooo No, it is not a 'type of pirate' but in fact the way it was used included 'pirate' but was even broader than that.

(buys another pitcher of beer)

A pirate commits armed robbery at sea. A viking (or a person going viking) generally just sails somewhere to commit armed robbery on land. It's like the difference between Cavalry (fights on horseback) and Dragoons (rides into position and dismounts to fight) or between a fighter pilot and a paratrooper.

(buys another pitcher of beer)

Which is not to say that no Norsemen ever committed piracy, there was plenty of overlap, but they are, to me at least, different things.

(buys another pitcher of beer - notices a buxom wench - then forgets what I was talking about. )

Good Night All. Time for me to wander off for the night -- I think that the dream fuel for this sleep will be horror films of my youth. The special effects in the 50s, 60s, and 70s were horrible but for young minds not yet jaded with modern special effects in those cathode ray lit living rooms we were effected deeply and permanently
