I’ve had a sneaking suspicion for a while now that pirate sites like LC are ironically going to be the only remaining platforms for these types of games relatively soon. I wonder if there is some way they can work together on revenue to keep them from dying out altogether

I really hope not. As it is, there is a need for barriers just to keep out the haters. It's all dependent if we need to raise the walls a bit higher.
