In English the cement pad leading to a garage is called a driveway. Mean while a parkway is another name for the usual two lane road you drive on. Hence, why do you park on a driveway but drive on a parkway

Driveway conventionally refers to a driving path from a public road onto private property. Many cars are parked on that path rather than in a garage, for example.

Parkway conventionally refers to a public street or road that passes or approaches a park.

The irony is that cars Park on a Driveway and Drive on a Parkway.
