Indeed. That reminds me that I was broken up with one time more than should be possible.Well, some things end more often than one thinks possible!
I had met a young woman on a train station and we went to the cinema together, twice. As students or in general young people do. And yes, we had exchanged addresses and phone numbers.
The she wrote me a long handwritten letter, apologizing profusely for hurting my feelings but breaking up with me, because she didn't really love me but a merely sexual relationship also did no longer feel right to her. Also she asked me not to see her again, since that would hurt too much.
I was flabbergasted. We never even held hands or kissed. Not even flirted, to my knowledge. So this breakup is something I don't understand to this day.
I speculated that the letter was intended for someone else and called her to ask, whether she had sent me the letter by accident. She was hurt and insulted that I thought of her she might have been dating someone else besides me. (We hadn't been dating, to my knowledge). Then she hung up in anger and we haven't spoken since. So it remains a mystery.
