Had to replace my laptop, and "upgrade" to 11 when I did, a little more than a year ago. Tried to reinstall my old MS Office suite and it wouldn't allow it. Basically, they've gone full retard on the whole subscription model. I was using it as an independent consultant, so I get to expense it, but it's still bullshit. And 11 isn't any kind of upgrade - it just runs more bullshit in the background, eating up capacity, and adds steps to do things I use to be able to do with a single right click. Also seems less stable than the "8" I used for years and the "10" I had on a client's machine for a while. Software folks used to be pretty smart; now it seems to be bunch of trained monkeys doing their level best to NOT put an efficient, effective and reliable product on the market. It's the whole "engineered obsolescence" bullshit. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if updates weren't designed to degrade performance, whether phone or other device, starting as early as the 6 month mark.

Yeah, which is why I have decided to pull out the old pen and paper. It's something I'm doing to occupy my time and maybe entertain some folks if I end up posting the story here. After writing just a few pages I'm thinking my mind is a dangerous place

I agree Windows 11 can be a complete dumpster fire

Yeah. Windows 7 was the last decent version, I think. I'm strongly considering switching back to linux. I used it for 10 years as my primary OS, but switched back to windows 2 years ago for gaming.
There'd be a few programs I'd have to do without, or use a VM for.

i had windows 7 up until it was no longer supported and had to manually update to windows 10 with a usb, I don't think my current pc could even handle windows 11.

Im still rocking the gtx 750 with only 8gb of ram but I intend to upgrade at somepoint
