Cooking is therapeutic for me, and it's the best air freshener.

Ended up owing some of the guys from my old company's Detroit office a nice bottle of Scotch after a bet against that team in the late '90s.

We were all in the same city for a conference - I think it was in NYC that year - and watching the Blues/Red Wings in the playoffs from some bar we were in. I think we had Gretzky by then, but can't recall.

I actually like both. I root more for the Sox, but always hope the Cubbies do well. But, when they go interleague play.. then I always hope the White Sox crush the fuck outta the Cubs.

It's all relative.

We don't get much snow in the lower parts of Texas - just not the right latitude for it to be a regular thing. So, many kids grow up not learning to drive in it and we don't have much clearing equipment when we do get something. Most bigger cities have some spreader trucks to put sand/salt/melt on the roadways, but it isn't like cities up around the Great Lakes, for example, where the annual snowfall is measured in feet. I think the cumulative snowfall for my part of Texas is probably under two feet during my almost 60 years of existence.

And, like a lot of places, you get yahoos thinking it's a great way to have some fun after a couple of drinks and they create all kinds of mayhem. I was always "impressed" by the guys in 4WD vehicles going nearly 80 on ice and snow covered highways when I was up near St. Louis - they thought they were invincible. Just means they had four wheels slipping when they hit the black ice.

I'm old school in the sense that I absolutely hate the DH. Pitchers should have to hit. But oh no.. they might get hurt running the bases or swinging a bat. Shut up.. bunch of pussies. Doesn't seem to bother Shohei Ohtani.

There are other things I don't like.. like.. banning the shift. Hey, not the teams around the league's fault that your shitty ass is so predictable that they know where you hit the ball. Maybe try not to be a shit-ass pull-hitter and spray that shit to the opposite field.

That's interesting. I wish I could live in Texas for a while, feel the differences. We literally have perpetual darkness, perpetual snow, and 95% of the people are 24/7 drunks.

Hate that batters stopped being able to hit the ball anywhere and only wanted Home Runs. Starting pitching dying also drives me crazy, hate the idea of bullpen nights, if you can't go more than 5 innings you're not a starting pitcher.
