The genetics thing is true to an extent, but when you know genetics the argument falls flat, as I can easily point at couples with existing genetic issues who are not related having a greater potential to produce offspring with genetic issues than any first generational incest couple, yet there's not even any kind of societal shunning of couples with genetic issues having kids. The truthful extent on the incest part is when it becomes multi-generational that you can see genetic issues become prevalent. But even then, that's really their choice, isn't it? Non-incest couple gives birth to a baby with genetic issues, they gotta raise it still.Agreed! I strongly think consenting adults should do what they want as long as nobody gets harmed. I do get the argument about (real) incest in some part though, as there is potential to harm a third party - potential future offspring. Although it's of course also difficult to argue, since it's only ~potential~ and nobody real (yet). As for policing fiction - that doesn't and will never make sense.
And yeah, policing fiction? Totally idiotic. Stems from the nonsensical idea that allowing something to exist in fiction will predispose someone to doing the same stuff in real life, but that's been proven wrong time and time again.
