I have very little faith in game journos, god knows they're prone to lying their cheeks off, but I do trust what I see, and that's a clear narrative shift to what we see in trailer (compare "no gods here, only monsters" to Witcher 3 trailer and Geralt "Slaying monsters" scene for a good idea of how one poses morally evil people and how another poses tradition as psychological device that people hide their choice behind).

I just saw the new trailer in my own language, to be sure to get all the nuances right. I agree with you on the subtext, but there is also a less effective narration, IMHO.
The older one is straight to the point, no detour, the message and the overall atmosphere of the game is conveyed effectively.
This new one takes its time before delivering its message. It's more spectacular, but also less effective. We'll see when the narrative/gameplay trailer will be released if we're wrong or not.

Bear in mind, Ciri ≠ Geralt - They're different characters, with different sensibilities. Ciri is younger, more inexperienced, more ideoloical. Geralt is old, world weary, cynical.
You can't take a 4 minute Trailer and say "The writing is worse/better/equal" because you've seen nothing at all. You've seen less than 0.1% of what you'll be getting in the final product.

I beg to differ. I (we) saw the trailer and compared it to a previous one. I'm judging that and only that and, IMHO, of course, I don't find the new one as effective as the old one. Killing monsters went straight to the point, this new one is more spectacular but delays its point. In the older one in a few minutes you get themes such as war (with Nilfgard involved), famine, abuses. The new one gives you a generic medieval polish/slavic setting and a single theme: superstition.
I also specified that we need to see more to see what the story will be about. I keep my finger crossed. Cyberpunk managed to be inclusive without being preachy and gave us many gray charachters. Hopefully CDProject Red will deliver again.

Fair enough then! I'll shut my trap. If you're just like for liking, 1:1ing, two trailers, go for it. I think I was just reading between imaginary lines that there was insunation that, either trailer, was a reflection of an end product. As a trailer, I enjoyed it and felt it was effective at showing us Ciri.
I, personally, don't see a value in saying "Trailer from this game is better than trailer from that game" because... Well. Seems a moot point to me. But certainly no harm in doing so and more power to you!

Y'all need to quit talking about sleep!

I dropped in to occupy my mind, trying to stay awake while waiting on a mouse. This one is a bit wily and tends to come out very late these days. Traps haven't worked; poison hasn't worked, so I'm counting on the pellet pistol to finally do the job. There were once three - now there is only the one. Thought I got him last night, but think the pellet skipped under him - he acted shot at first, but he had moved by the time I went on the porch for the pooper-scooper to grab the carcass. No sign of a hit left behind, but did see a new puncture in the backstop I set up to protect the baseboards behind the bait zone.

It's about a 15 foot shot in low light, through the legs of a chair... Gotta get the damn thing!

I hope you managed to catch the mouse, at my grandparents' house we used the typical one you see on social media of the bucket of paint with cardboard and peanut butter (only we used bread and cheese because that was the only thing those mice ate) and surprisingly we caught almost all of them, only the smallest ones were left that didn't fall into the bucket because of their weight.
